Bigger is Better (among other myths)
Chuck Hayes is the starting center for the Houston Rockets. He has started in all 20 of their regular season games to-date.
He is also listed at 6'6" 238#. According to his own GM, he's probably closer to 6'5". He is, based upon independent research, the shortest regular starting center in the history of the NBA. Houston's W-L record currently stands at 11-9.
I bring this up, other than the sheer novelty aspect of it, after all the woofing back at BDC by Laker fans running down the old-time Celtics like Russell because they were smaller than today's players.
In other news, PG Jerrod Bayless has supposedly asked for a trade. He's a 6'3" rookie (the #11 pick this past draft), shooting 54% from the field and has a 2:1 assist-to-turnover ratio. He's making $2.1M this year and is signed up until 2012/2013. Rudy Fernandez, their backup SG, is out with surgery to relieve pressure on a nerve in his leg. Hey Danny! How about offering them Tony?
Chris Kaman is suffering from Vitamin D deficiency, which has sapped his strength. No wonder he's so damn white. He's drinking milk to offset it. Maybe he should go for a walk outside and accomplish the same thing?
Idle thoughts from a person with too much idle time right now.
