You guys are undervaluing Rondo. The guy is coming off a torn ACL and has only been back for like a week. It's going to take him some time to get back to where he was pre-injury.

I disagree. With an emphasis on young players, a stockpile of draft picks, cap flexibility in future years, and solid ownership and management, the Celtics have a path that can lead them to contention. The Knicks have almost none of that.

I disagree. Mediocrity is the absolute worst place to be in this league. You're not good enough to win, you're not good enough to attract the type of free agents you need to win, nor are you bad enough to get a great draft pick.

Look at OKC. They sucked, I mean really and truly sucked for years, but they don't suck now because they drafted Durant #2, Westbrook #4, Harden #3 (who they traded, but he was a coveted asset to Houston, who gave up Jeremy Lamb, Kevin Martin, a first and second round pick for) and and now Steven Adams #12. They got lucky with Ibaka at #24, we've got some good mid-first round picks too, but their success rate is more problematic than a lottery pick. Bottom line, they had to suck for years to get to where they are today.

I'm not a huge fan of the draft, I think it's a crap shoot, but I know that there are a lot of GMs who disagree. Having a Top 5 pick in the draft, especially this one, will get you a very good player. Either you draft him, or you trade the pick to someone else for a very good player.

Can't do that if you're mediocre. What have you got to offer?

Short-term pain for long-term gain, that's what we've got going now.

In the NBA - there are 3 possible positions for a team to find themselves in:  Contending, Rebuilding, or Stuck in No Mans Land

Knicks are squarely in position #3 - have been since the 90s and arent going anywhere anytime soon.
