Hi,
What happened? Injury or something else?
Now I understand the Babb's signing.

Re: Ainge: Wallace Done For Year
Depending on the reason, I feel badly for Gerald, as I believe he's been a much steadier and more versatile factor on this Celtics team than many people would admit. I also feel badly for the Celtics, who now have no experienced backup for Jeff Green (watch for the name Johnson to enter that picture) and will miss the energy (if not the locker room presence) of Gerald.
The fact that he's going to hold a press conference suggests strongly to me that this is not injury-related and either he and Keith Bogans are going to look for furniture together or he (Gerald) is retiring. I hope to hear from our resident basketball finances expert, gyso, about the cap implications of a possible retirement. And wouldn't it be a godsend if Bogans followed suit?
Anyway, good luck, Gerald.

Sam,
Per CSNNE, it says he tore his meniscus.

KJ,
That news is both bad and good. It's bad for Gerald because that type of injury, for a veteran player, can be terrible on its own or can even be the beginning of a chain of knee-related ailments as the knee adjusts to each new ailment. It's good (there must be a better term such as "a silver lining") because it means he's not just deserting the team.
In variably, even if it's in the long-term, one has to wonder whether the injury could hasten his departure from pro ball.
The important thing is to wish him godspeed in his recovery and, speaking for myself, to praise him for everything he has given the Celtics on the floor.
