Ainge: Rondo situation 'in the past'
February 28, 2014, 2:45 pm

WALTHAM, Mass. — Birthdaygate finally appears to be a thing of the past.

Danny Ainge, Boston's president of basketball operations, has had a chance to talk with Rajon Rondo regarding him not traveling with the team for a game last week.

"Rondo and I had a very good conversation yesterday," Ainge told CSNNE.com in a phone interview. "I'm satisfied with where things are and as far as I'm concerned, this whole thing is in the past and we're moving forward."

During Boston's West coast trip last week, Rondo did not travel with the team to Sacramento - a game in which it had already been determined that he would not play in.

So Rondo elected to stay in Los Angeles where he reportedly celebrated his 28th birthday with family and friends.

Apparently Rondo did not have permission to not travel with the team.

Ainge offered little in terms of specifics regarding his conversation or where the blame in all this truly lies.

Rondo's absence has also raised some questions as to how fit a leader is he, something that Ainge says is not an issue for him.

The Celtics named Rondo captain earlier this season.

"First of all, leaders make mistakes," said Ainge who declined to say whether Rondo was fined. "And I'm not saying Rondo made a mistake in this particular instance, but leaders in general do make mistakes. All of us learned something from this, and as I said earlier, we're moving on."

How funny, Blakely has to post this after the previous article trying to hash out a problem when there wasn't one.

I met Sherrod last night and he seems like a nice guy.

I have to wonder if he just makes up stories to try and keep his job, or if his bosses at Comcast tell him - we need a story on X or Y and he goes and works on some angle that may or may not be valid to keep his job.

Mrkleen,

I have no doubt that he's a nice guy. And I guess he can't be blamed if his bosses tell him to go out and score some Easy News and he eschews personal ethics by cow-towing to them. But he might want to consider losing some weight, because the lack of an ethical backbone will cause him problems eventually.
