Garnett possibly out
I just read on BDC that Garnett may be out until Jan. 6 vs. Miami and Rondo is also questionable for tonights game, though he did participate in the morning shootaround today.

that's sort of a slap in the face but perhaps now we might get to see a bit more of the puppies.

Re: Garnett possibly out
beat, agreed. My initial reaction included some teeth grinding and a bit of nausea, but I reminded myself that the goal is much bigger than a potential three game losing streak in December. I hope that Doc actually uses this as an opportunity to play the rookies, rather than playing Ray and Sheed 45 min. each. They did recall Lester from the DL and Walker has been back since PP went down. PHX might be a good team to play them against too since they are mostly run and gun.

The word I got was that KG was accidentally kicked in the knee (upt THAT knee) in the last game, and might miss two games.

Re: Garnett possibly out
It is time to get these kids in the game and get some real playing time. They recalled Hudson and he will be at the game tonight in case Rondo sits out. The word on comcast is that Rondo will start but who knows how long he will be able to play.
I hope to finally see Walker get some minutes and I really would like to see
Williams get some good playing time. He had been doing so well, and then the bottom seemed to fall out. With Baby out and Garnett we will need all the power we can get inside. I just hope this doesn't turn into another three point show, because the Suns will definitely win this one again. They are great outside shooters.
Without Garnett and Pierce, all the veteran pressure falls on Ray, Eddie, Sheed and Perk. I will not put Tony Allen into that picture just yet. I will say he has been playing well, then there are those turnovers that pop up and he drives me nuts. It is a good time for Danny to decide if he is going to go after anyone else before deadline time.
I will keep all my fingers and toes crossed tonight. I would love to see them pull out a win.

Re: Garnett possibly out
In some ways, this is a "can't lose" situation. No one really expects the Celts to win; so a loss will be a kind of ho hum proposition. But, if they did somehow find a way to pull it out, all sorts of benefits could accrue—from psychological to potential player development. The only possible downside I would fear would be any further excursion into the world of medical science.

Re: Garnett possibly out
Swede,
Sometimes the only remedy is time.
There are periods when I wish the entire board would go on vacation,
with absolutely no access to any Celtics news, until the team is at
full strength. I don't know how many people allow themselves occasional reminders
that full strength has eluded this team during EVERY GAME OF THIS SEASON.
One of the most appealing features of this roster was to be its
versatility. Which means one of the most appealing features of this
team has not been available once this season, and yet the team has the
kind of winning record that only three of the 17 championship Celtics
team could boast.
There will hopefully come a time when this team is a reasonable
facsimile of what it was supposed to be. Even then, it will probably
take some time for them to get in sync with one another, learn their
most appropriate roles, and gather momentum.
What's happening now is that they're erring in the direction of caution
with their arguably most important asset—KG. Perhaps some of the
tooth-gnashing time should be set aside to give thanks for that
precaution. What's happening now is that time that was supposed to be
spent in seeking the most effective combinations is, instead, being
spent in survival mode—just like last season.
Those of us who occasionally like to indulge in a little analysis could go
crazy with all the currently available material. KG's wounded goods.
Perk's too slow. Ray's inconsistent. Sheed should sit on the rim and
never shoot a three. Rondo has probably lost 17 or 18 games through
his lousy free throw shooting, and he should be systematically sifting
through the 239 remedies that have been advanced. Tony sometimes
commits turnovers. Glen Davis should never fall. Eddie's not a PG.
They NEED two or three more PGs. Pierce plays too much. The kids
should be playing big minutes. They should be holding practices on the
plane. The ballboys are secret bookies for the refs—all of whom hate
only the Celtics. Hell, I could start several more forums because
there's too much stuff to worry and complain about on just one.
Calling all Celtics fans. Follow me to a balmy, sunny island. Your eyes are getting heavy. The
warm water laps gently at your toes. The mai tai chick is flipping a
doubloon with the masseuse for the right to serve you next. You have
this vague sensation that, far away, players and coaches are going
about their business, but that fleeting vision fades as you gaze at the
cloudless sky and glory in the beauty of the local flora and fauna.
Six months from now, ripened by the sun and your rotisseried existence,
you'll be gently deposited in front of a 783-inch flat screen, and
you'll watch green perfection glide over, under and around all
obstacles. Everything will be fixed, and you won't have had to expend
one ounce of worry. Doc will be declared the greatest coach ever by acclimation, with
envious Los Angelenos leading the movement while lashing themselves and shouting mea culpas. Five Celtics will be declared co-winners of the
league MVP award, and five more will share the most improved award.
You and your kayak will be permitted to join the parade of duck boats up the Charles, as rose
petals fall from the sky and the players clamor for your autograph and invite you to join the team's post-season cruise back to that very same island.
And the entire adventure will cost you only $20. Dslack's offering the same thing for free on a "no frills" basis: no beach, no championship, no parade, and no cruise.
Life could be a dream, sha-boom. (That one's for the really old guys.)

Re: Garnett possibly out
Thanks Sam, we all needed that! I just got through telling (barking) at my husband about the same thing. I have decided to stop watching the comcast crew. They are the most negative people on tv, and they are based in Boston!
No more news, just be thankful for what will come, and I am sure it WILL come. Health is a great thing to have! Give them a little while, we will be right where we want to be.
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ONE AND ALL!!! THE CELTS WILL RISE AGAIN! KEEP THE FAITH!!!
