Rondo is one assist/game away from Chris Paul.  Just imagine if he had teammates that could shoot and/or finish.

He's the best pure passing PG. Period.

Random, but interesting that Kobe is rated higher than:

Deron Williams
Kyrie Irving
Michael Carter-Williams

I tried calculating the assists per 36 minutes played, but Paul's still slightly ahead, 10.98 to 10.41.

Where Chris Paul separates himself is turnovers. He has only 2.3 per game and 2.4 per 36 minutes, compared to 3.2 per game and 3.5 per 36 minutes for Rondo. That may not seem like a lot, but Paul's assist to turnover ration is 4.625 while Rondo's is 3.0.

Rondo's turnovers during recent games have really been piling up.  Lately, I seem to recall recall the figure 7, which is well above his career and 2013-14 averages.  I'd be interested in people's opinions as to the reasons for this increase at this time.

Sam

I believe that NOT playing every game is the biggest issue. You get into a rhythm and have a good game and then have to wait at least 2 days before you play again.

Sort of like a hot hitter in baseball, could he keep hitting as well if the manager sat him every other day? Doubt it. Of course if the manager did that.......... he would be an ex manager pretty soon.

A question about these turnovers: do they include if a teammate misses a pass and the ball sails out or into the hands of a defender?

KJ,

I think that's up to the official scorer for each game. It's subjective, but there is someone who makes that call.

Considering that Rondo has not played a lot with this team the TO's to assists is not surprising.

There are only 4 players on the Celtics other than Rondo that were on the team last year and 3 of those spent a lot of time injured AB, JG and Sully.

The only player that has actually played with Rondo for an extended period of time is Bass. The reason why guys like Green and Sully shoot in the low 40's is because they shoot too many three point shots and neither one of them are consistent 3 pt shooters. That has little to do with turnover but much to do with assists. Rondo could easily have more assists if guys made shots.
