A WORD ABOUT THE WEATHER
“The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco.”
The coolest thing Mark Twain never said.
While usually attributed to him, the actual source of these words is unknown
and there is no evidence that Mark Twain ever said this.
San Francisco is actually blessed with a wonderfully moderate climate all year long. The temperature is rarely too hot, and seldom too cold. The average daily temperature is 62.5 degrees. Expect some of the famous fog during the summer and some rain November through March. The months of September and October are renowned for their balmy, fog free, sunny days.
worcester,
True, Twain never said that. He did, however, complain about the weather in Paris.
The fog does roll in around sunset in the summer as the land cools and that allows the cold fog to rush in.
It really is nice out here, which is why I live here.
Even if he did say it, and even if it were true, the NBA doesn't play in the summertime, they play in the winter and spring.

BOSTON — One of the early hurdles the Boston Celtics had to overcome in acquiring Kevin Garnett in 2007, was convincing him to want to come to Boston.
That, according to Comcast SportsNet basketball analyst Tim Welsh, doesn't appear to be an issue when it comes to a potential trade for Minnesota's Kevin Love who reportedly does not plan to sign an extension with the Timberwolves.
A source close to Love told Welsh that the three-time All-star, "wants to play for an organization that's going to be a winning organization; not necessarily I have to go to a championship team now, but a team that's going to be built to move in that direction. Maybe it'll take a couple years. That's OK. But he needs a change from Minnesota."
Although the Celtics are coming off a 25-57 season, Boston has several draft picks in the coming years in addition to young talent such as Jared Sullinger and Kelly Olynyk along with four-time All-Star Rajon Rondo.
And while it has been reported that Love wants to return out West, Welsh's source said that Love is open to what he believes is the best situation in terms of winning.
"He (Love) is not one of those guys that's saying, "I want to go to Miami. I want to go to L.A.," the hype cities," Welsh said. "Now would he prefer L.A.? His girlfriend lives there. She's an actress. He went to college there (at UCLA). He was born there."
Welsh added, "but he's a professional. He wants to go where there's the best opportunity for him which would be in a winning organization and he respects the history of the Celtics."
The last time Boston was in the lottery was 2007 when they had the fifth overall pick. They drafted Jeff Green, but traded him to Seattle (now Oklahoma City) as part of a trade for Ray Allen and a second round pick used to select Glen Davis.
That set into motion Boston's blockbuster trade in the summer which netted them Kevin Garnett.
And with that, Banner 17 was born.
"He respects (Celtics president of basketball operations) Danny Ainge," Welsh said. "He's already built it once. If he (Ainge) can sell him, 'here's the plan for the future,' he's open to it."

Tommy speaks with Abby Chin about the draft and Kevin Love, in the video on this page.
Tommy doesn't see Love coming to Boston any more than Gorman does.

Danny Ainge just told us that he would be open to trading for a high caliber player in their last year without an agreement to an extension.

You gotta take chances. If he thinks Love could be a key piece in building a contender, then he should go for it. The Dwight Howard LA Experience showed that it can set a team back significantly if it doesn't work out, but Love isn't the head case that Howard is. However, there are those "California" and "warm weather" worries to consider.bobheckler wrote:Toucher and Rich

Even if Ainge doesn't get him, it shows he's motivated and willing to gamble to get the right player.
