draft rumor for what its worth

SI.com reports that the Celtics are "locked in" on Arizona forward Aaron Gordon with the sixth pick in the 2014 NBA Draft.
Several league sources believe that Celtics GM Danny Ainge is locked in on Gordon. While Gordon's shooting is a concern, he is a strong rebounder and shot blocker who can defend either forward spot and has been compared to Shawn Marion. A trade is possible here, too. Ainge is always on the lookout for a make a blockbuster deal, and with Boston's assets he is more than equipped to do so.

It's an interesting development if accurate, on a number of levels. For starters, Ainge has made a lot of noise about how much he doesn't think this draft class is that great, so taking a guy with athleticsm and potential over someone more polished is kind of surprising. Gordon is one of the younger players in this class.
On the wing the Celtics have Jeff Green, who has been inconsistent, but you'd still have to think the Celtics are still primed to consider trades with the pick. The Celtics want to get better now, and Gordon will make them better, but not immediately in the way they would want.
Gordon and Rajon Rondo running the break, however ... that's an idea I can get behind. Gordon's most often-made comparison is Dallas Maverick and former Phoenix Sun Shawn Marion, called the Matrix for his diverse skillset. Gordon fits that profile from every evaluation.
