Gary Tanguay (unfortunately), Trenni Kusnierek and Bob Ryan discuss Noah Vonleh and whether rebuilding through the draft is feasible in today's NBA.

They quote someone who cites 2 GMs who were annoyed at how out of shape Vonleh was. He looks pretty fit in the video clip they provide.

The question remains, though, how young is too young?

btw, did you know that Philly has 7 picks this draft? Seven. And you thought Danny was pick-crazy. I guess this is where we see if Sam Hinkie is crazy-like-a-fox or just plain crazy.

The Bob Ryan soliloquy was appreciated because the other two were simply spouting stuff that we all read about (thanks, in large part, to Bob Heckler).

Bob preaches patience, which I assume means he believes you can build through the draft. And I've always thought of him as a true guru (say that fast three times) on pro basketball. But I believe the many quirks of the draft make it a much less guaranteed producer of real talent than trades. We'll see.

Right now, if I were forced to pick a preferred #6 draft choice for the Celtics, it would be Vonleh. However, my real preference is to use #6 in trade for a center and use #17 to draft the most prolific scoring wing who's available.
