Jason Kidd leaving the Nets?
Jason must feel he is God's gift to basketball.
His team underachieved, he make a joke out of himself with the spilling the drink on the court incident and now he makes a play for more power?

Is Jason Kidd Out In Brooklyn?
Updated: June 28, 2014
According to a league source, Kidd recently approached ownership with a series of demands, including the role of overseeing the Nets’ basketball operations department in addition to his head coaching responsibilities. The source said Kidd didn’t want general manager Billy King to be dismissed, but wanted to be given a title and placed above him in the organizational hierarchy.
Ownership declined to grant Kidd that kind of power, which is rare for any coach in the league to have. The source said ownership felt Kidd wasn’t ready for that kind of responsibility after having only one year of coaching experience — the team finished his first season on the bench with a 44-38 record, good for sixth in the Eastern Conference — and allowed Kidd to seek other opportunities.
The franchise then was approached by the Bucks for permission to speak with Kidd about the prospect of hiring him, and the Nets granted permission.

Some people seem to have a knack for being poster children for the Peter Principle: rising to their level of incompetence. It appears that Jason could well be heading toward the PP Hall of Fame.

Jason Kidd probably did this because he knows the team is flawed and cannot win.

Mark Jackson couldn't work with Scal and got Scal demoted to GSW's D-League team in Santa Cruz. Mark Jackson couldn't work with Darren Erman (now back with the Celtics as Director of Scouting) and got him fired. At the end of the season, Mark Jackson got fired.
Kidd pissed off Pierce. He pissed off Garnett. He alienated Lawrence Frank and got him demoted. Now, Jason Kidd is being handed his hat.
Coincidence? I think not. The days of dictatorial coaches are gone. You have to be a people person and not just xs-and-os and being able to say "because I'm the Daddy and I say you have to!". Players won't take it, assistant coaches will to an extent but ownership doesn't like, want or need a drama king running their team.

Kidd was pissed that guys like Derek Fisher got paid a lot more to coach teams than he did. It's ego for him. He wants to get out of Brooklyn and get paid like that with the Bucks.

Given that we own two of the Nets unprotected future draft pix, this is bad news for the Celts, because Kidd was generating unnecessary losses for the Nets with his bonehead coaching moves.

Don't worry. Old age and injuries will take care of those losses going forward.

Jason Kidd seems to have acquired an undeserved sense of entitlement and over-exaggerated self-worth.

Lost in this is violation of coach's code: You don't pursue job belonging to someone else. Humiliating end for Larry Drew. Kidd's shameless.

Bucks ownership masking this as a coach hiring, but belief is that it's just matter of time until Kidd has full control in Milwaukee.

A league source familiar with the Kidd situation described the Bucks' claims that they only want Kidd as head coach this way, "B.S."

Rick Carlisle runs coach's association, takes issues seriously. Ultimate coach's coach. You can bet Kidd'll feel disgust within fraternity.

There was no organization in the sport where Kidd would have more stature or capital than the Nets. He burned it all.

Re: Jason Kidd leaving the Nets?
Nets apparently are getting two 2nd round picks for Kidd.
If true, they've made out pretty well.

sloop,
So, we get a 1st rounder for Doc and they get two 2nd rounders for Kidd.
I wonder how much of that is the difference in quality of Doc over Kidd and how much of it is Brooklyn willing to take anything just to be rid of him.

Re: Jason Kidd leaving the Nets?
Bob,
You get the impression that the Nets were willing to eat Jason Kid's contract and dump him for nothing. Getting two 2nd rounders is like getting something for nothing.
But then this begs the question of why the Bucks would do that.

Re: Jason Kidd leaving the Nets?
I don't really know what's worse; Jason Kidd slithering his way into this job or the Milwaukee Bucks condoning and actually pushing for it.
But the interesting part is that the Nets seem more than willing to let him go. In fact, they handed him his hat on the way out.
