6'10", 230#, 7'0" wingspan.

Averaged 5.7ppg, 4.1rebs, .7blks in 15mpg last year.

With Pau gone he should get tons of minutes with Randle.

kdp,

Danny offered Steamer money to stay in Boston with KG.  Steamer, for pretty good reasons, went to Minny for more money and being closer to his family after years of traveling in Europe.  Danny is not going to take Steamer back.  Call it ego, call it payback, call it whatever you want but I think Danny is thinking "he had his chance to be in the family and he turned us down".

Besides, we now have Zeller, Anthony and Vitor under contract. Kelly can play some center and Iverson is fighting for a position. True, none of them are shot blockers like Steamer, and we sure could use one of those, but I'm thinking we don't have a slot open anymore BARRING another trade.

If that happens before the season starts, I'll almost guarantee you Steamer will still be there. The Lakers just signed Ed Davis, 6'10", 230#, 7'0" wingspan. They could have signed Steamer, 6'11", 260#, 7'3" wingspan, too. He's just not in demand.

Signing some unknown 18 year old from Outer Mongolia, would tweak my interest more than signing Steamer.

WOW..following that logic I guess the Cavs are lucky Danny isn;t calling the shots there, or they would have PASSED on Lebron!

I mean come on...IF Ainge is that thin skiinned than there are bigger problems the Celtics need to deal with period. Now if Ainge feels Steamer is not the player that Joel is or Iverson or fav could be, then thats OK.

if anyone (including Ainge) can't see that this roster still need a defensive minded center (even a backup) , then I think they are looking at some other team.

Steamer would be just another sub for a few minutes a game.  He was adequate as a backup in Boston and not so adequate elsewhere.

I'd rather sign Swish's Mongolian Monster than Steamer.

Besides, this is the time to forget free agent signings and focus on trades that will not swell the roster to overflowing and will not compromise their cap proximity.

It's nice to collect assets, and maybe the Celtics could erect a special statue memorializing all their assets.  But it might be a nice gesture to—you know—actually expend some assets for a worthy cause.

Adding, at best, a back up player to a non contending team is a far cry from adding LeBron to your roster.

If we're focused on 2-4 years from now, why would we need Steamer season? Hawk
