Ich bin ein Carolinar!!
Carolinaian? Caroliner? Caroliniac?
Everyone,
Phase I of the move is done. One 26' moving truck full of furniture and other household goods has been moved from Maine to a rental house in Charlotte, NC. One week of prep, two days of loading it onto the truck, two days of playing with the big rigs on I84 and I81 and two days to unload it and set up the house.
I still haven't sold the 19th century 12 room farm house with large barn and 1.5 acres in Dexter yet. If anyone can find a buyer, you will get a commission of 1% of the sale, paid in cash!!
Phase II will take place after the house is sold or sometime this winter, whichever comes first. I can still fill up another 26' moving truck (and maybe more) with all the stuff that I have accumulated over 18 years of living there.

Gyso,
Good luck!
I don't know if you're going to have phases III, IV, V etc, if you sell the house or not, in any event look on the bright side - you will not have to fight the snow any more!

Re: Ich bin ein Carolinar!!
Gyso, congratulations for moving to a warmer clime. I wish I could say the same, but alas..........
By the way, the ending you are looking for in German is "er", ergo "Caroliner", however in German one does not use the article "der" when saying were one comes from. So the correct form would be "Ich bin Caroliner". Unfortunately Kennedy and his advisors didn't know this when he made his famous "Ich bin ein Berliner" speech ("Ich bin Berliner" would have been correct). As a certain sweet food in Berlin is called a "Berliner" what Kennedy actually said was ____________"I'm a jelly doughnut".
P.S. The Berliners loved him anyway!

Sinus,
Screw the snow, that's part of why we are moving. If it snows in Charlotte, nobody goes anywhere for days. I'll like that.
Beat,
A buyer may have to be "had", real estate isn't moving so well.
I don't think I will be too vocal about that other fact!
NYCelt,
It is truly beautiful down there. Except that darn red dirt, it gets into everything. White water rafting in the south? Fast water perhaps, but not white.
kdp,
I waved, didn't you see me?
Pete,
Janie said just yesterday that the nearby Concord NC airport had specials going to Florida for $49. We may just have to take advantage of that rate!
Berlin,
I was just showing my inner Kennedy, as you guessed. I don't think Kennedy was saying he was from Berlin, he was actually saying he was a Berlin-ish type person, we were all in it together and he felt their pain. A solidarity message, so to speak. Or not, I was barely aware at the time!

Re: Ich bin ein Carolinar!!
gyso, all the best in your new digs. Take it from someone who's currently carrying two houses, you're doing things in the right order.
We'll be making a whistle stop tour through Florida in mid-November, and our homeward route will take us through Charlotte. Maybe we could get together and possibly attract some other board members.
Our best to both of you.
Take care.
