Bledsoe Signs With The Suns - 5 Years, $70M
That's $14M/year for a player coming off a meniscus tear. No options in the deal, according to Adrian W, just straight 5 years. At least it wasn't a max contract, Sam's head would have exploded. So, this contract is what Rondo will be measured against. I hope Bledsoe has an amazing year, absolutely amazing. That way, when Rondo's doing his free agent thing the bids for him will be lower than what he's thinking now.
Brian Windhorst: The Suns and Eric Bledsoe have agreed to a 5-year, $70 million deal, sources told ESPN Twitter @WindhorstESPN

I just realized that the good players in this league are making about the same money the good players did in the 50s and early 60s. But with three zeros added. That's a thousand-fold increase. The cost of living has increased eight-fold.

Since 1960, the cost of living index has increased eight-fold. The national wage index has increased 11-fold.
My head exploded anyway, Bob.

what a BIG mistake, Suns management is gonna regret this one, how many all star berths does he have? this reminds me of the Ben Gordon signing.

I disagree Cowens....I think he's a good young player who will play up to or exceed his new contract. he does need to stay healthy though now.
on another note, scratch that NY/Phoe/Boston trade I talked about....LOL.

I think Bledsoe is going to be a star in the league if he stays healthy.
There's no reason why he can't be a 20 pt, 7 asst guy who plays phenomenal defense.
That's a really nice 3 guard rotation Phoenix will have with Bledsoe, Dragic and Thomas.
Even with Bledsoe's contract, Phoenix is still well below the salary cap.

Lol, nice job, Phoenix. But I guess they couldn't convince anyone else to go out there, so Bledsoe was the next best thing.
Does this transaction push them into the playoffs? If not, that's $70M in the toilet.
