Celtics' McCarty pleads not guilty to larceny charge
October 23, 2014, 12:15 pm
Celtics assistant coach Walter McCarty pleaded not guilty Thursday in Framingham District Court to a charge of larceny by check stemming from a dispute regarding a new home he is building.
Through the Celtics, McCarty released the following statement: "This matter stems from ordering some kitchen cabinets for a home that my family and I are building. We hope to resolve the matter soon, but I simply cannot comment further while the case is pending."
The news was first reported by the Metro West Daily News, which said McCarty's lawyer, Glen Tagliamonte, "asked Judge David Cunis to postpone the arraignment. He said the case was about insufficient funds and should go in front of a clerk. Cunis denied the request. Prosecutor Ben Franklin did not request bail."
McCarty is due back in court on Dec. 11 for a pretrial conference and a motion to dismiss.

MY NOTE: It would appear that Waltah's $18k check bounced. "Prosecutor Ben Franklin"?
