Some encouraging numbers on Marcus Smart
Below are some numbers on how Marcus stacks up against some of his peers (ages 18-21)

Note that he ranks 14th in minutes played, 7th in 3pa's, 5th in 3p fg%, 3rd in efg%. Pretty solid numbers for a 20 year old. Lets hope the improvement continues.

Re: Some encouraging numbers on Marcus Smart
Even without seeing these numbers, the eye test shows that this young guy has gotten much better since the beginning of the season.
Not to take anything away from Smart as he may work well on his own, but this type of improvement is part of what Stevens and his staff has done for many players already.
I am sure that Ainge understood that Stevens would have a lot to learn about coaching in the NBA, but he has right from the start proven that he can make individual players better.
Hopefully, Smart keeps improving as he is likely an all star in 2 or 3 years if he does.

Re: Some encouraging numbers on Marcus Smart
If the Celtics as a whole could progress as rapidly as Marcus Smart has, the rebuild would be gaining serious momentum.

Sam,
I do think that many of the Celtics players have improved due to Stevens and his staff, but we all need to realize that not all of the other players have Smart's athletic pedigree. Sullenger and Olynyk, etc were not the 6th pick in the draft for various reasons.
And, the re-build is underway.

Swish,
Thanks.
His TOs/36minute is impressive. 1.95/36mpg.
assists/TO is a very healthy 2.2:1.
Highly rated PG and #5 pick Dante Exum's ast/TO is 1.88:1. 2nd year PG Schroder is worse at 1.81:1.
What is nice to see is that, in just about every category, Smart ranks no lower than his minutes played ranking meaning that he is the equal or better of his peers /minute.
