Back to the Future? Does KG get to retire from his beloved " 'Sota" ?

Re: Special Thread for Transactions and Rumors around the Trade Deadline
I think just the opposite Nycelt.
I am a big supporter of Thomas. he might be small but he's got a big heart. Big time high volume scorer who can also handle the ball.
there won't be any defensive issues with him in the backcourt with either Smart OR Bradley.
Danny called him first in RFA last year, but he signed at Phoenix, os Ange likes him.
his deal is under $7M for three more years after this one, giving Stevens a 3 guard rotation for the next 3 plus years signed/sealed/delivered.
I love the trade. I think you are under estimating how much Thomas' scoring is going to help push this team into the playoff this year.
Jerebko is on the final year of his deal and can hit the outside shot, so he can fill in for Bass or Kelly O. In a pinch (or if Kelly has more injury issues). he is 28YO though and most likely will be gone in the summer.
Datome is a guy Danny tried to sign last year, but he signed at Det. instead, he hasn't done much in two years there and also has an expiring deal. at 27YO I doubt he 'll have much of a chance to stick after this season (if he's not cut soon).

NYCelt,
I'd disagree that Jerebko won't stick the Celtics if not for the fact that he plays a heavily stocked position. I believe he's got some pretty good potential.

Sam ,
The best thing in the trade of Prince to Detroit is that the Clippers wont get him via waivers.Datome can be bought out but Jerebko is a good players and can play 3 and 4 .

For a 1st rounder in 2016 and Marcus Thornton http://www.bostonherald.com/sports/celtics_nba/celtics_insider/2015/02/report_celtics_land_isaiah_thomas_in_deadline_trade
So the rumor says.

With Thomas on board, does that mean that Pressey should get his passport in order?

Re: Special Thread for Transactions and Rumors around the Trade Deadline
Did the Clippers make any deals? They were one of the clubs being singled out as being in the market for players to shore up their team. Depending on how long Griffin in out, they could be lucky to make the playoffs. The West is a stacked division, it will be tough for them, their schedule is really tough in next few weeks. Gee, I feel bad for them. Right.

Rosalie,
Supposedly, Perk is expected to be bought out by the Jazz.

NO Pressey stays until Summer I think for deep depth.
Sam I think Jerebko has already peaked at close to 28YO now. But I agree he'll stick the rest of this year for depth.
My guess at the new rotation:
Sully-28M/G
Zeller- 20M
Bass-24M _ Watch Danny extend steady Eddie
Kelly- 24M
Turner- 28M
Crowder- 20M
Bradley- 28M
Smart- 28M
Thomas- 28M
Young- 12M
I like it more than most I guess.
and we still will have cap room for a max player next year!

Re: Special Thread for Transactions and Rumors around the Trade Deadline
Wow - seems like a steal for the Celtics. I honestly can't believe we got a player like Thomas for Thorton (not in our long term plans) and the Cleveland pick. That pick was almost a second rounder, and the chances of getting a player better than Thomas is pretty slim. And, his contract is excellent. This guy could be a real 6th-man/microwave type of player.
Almost seems like Danny is operating on a different level than the rest of the league.

Re: Special Thread for Transactions and Rumors around the Trade Deadline
Sam, when you say we're heavily stocked at Jerebko's position, you're assuming Sully and Kelly will be healthy enough to play, right? Without them we just had Bass at the 4. I think Sully will be gone for a while, and when is Kelly due back. The Swede may very well get substantial playing time in Kelly and Sully's absence.
Re: Special Thread for Transactions and Rumors around the Trade Deadline
I have mostly seen Jerebko play SF. AFAIK he is mostly a hard worker/team player kind of guy.
Jerebko was doing rather well in the Pistons with good numbers and playing time but then he tore his achilles, think it was two seasons ago?

Thomas is a very good offensive player.
Unfortunately, he has the reputation of another former Suns PG (Steve Nash), that he gives up just as many points on the defensive end as he produces on the offensive end.

Re: Special Thread for Transactions and Rumors around the Trade Deadline
Still don't see Thomas as a keeper here since he isn't a big playmaker, can't defend much, and is only shooting a decent 3-point % for the first time this year, but we'll certainly see. I'm with dboss; we can start a smurf team now. Where do we put Pressey, PF?
May have to amend my guess on Datome and Jerebko. I still think Datome goes, but with Sully out and Kelly recovering, maybe Worcester is right and Jerebko stays and even plays.

W,
Yes, I hadn't known about Sully's foot condition. As I said earlier, I've always been impressed by Jerebko when he played against the Celtics. He's just the kind of role player who might fit seamlessly into the rotation because he doesn't have a strongly defined basketball identity.
kdp,
Sure, Jerebko may already have peaked, but one never knows what developments might occur with a different team, a new system, and (unfortunately) a possible opportunity for consistent time brought about by Sully's injury.

Re: Special Thread for Transactions and Rumors around the Trade Deadline
With Sully out are we going to see Shav Randolph some? He's a terror on the boards, reminds me a bit of Leon Powe.
Also perhaps Thomas' defense can be improved by Stevens. If I remember correctly (and I'm never sure at my age) I don't think Turner was especially noted for his defense when he arrived in Boston. He had a great game shutting down Kyle Korver recently.
I just hope the team chemistry doesn't dissolve with the changes in personal. We've had a nice thing going lately.

Berlin, the only missing parts are Prince and Thornton. I think team chem will survive, and Thomas could become our microwave.
