This is unfortunate and very telling
Just saw this on ESPN scroll.
http://espn.go.com/dallas/nba/story/_/id/12382605/dallas-mavericks-suspend-rajon-rondo-one-game-altercation-coach-rick-carlisle
I know there are those on this site who are glad Rondo has moved on. I'm not posting it for those folks. I just found this sad and unfortunate for Rondo. Now he IS in the situation similar to where he helped win the title for us and it appears he is imploding. Veterans don't get suspended, much less get into the coaches face enough to get suspended. Not ones as talented as Rondo. At this stage in his career, it shows some maturity issues/problems.
Now maybe I am over-reacting and this may just be one of those out in the open issues that helps clear the air and spurs (no pun intended) the Mavs on to another title. But usually these things are handled a little more civilly. Rondo was is and always will be an enigma. The Celtics have moved on and now the Mavs are up to their armpits in Rondo.
I wonder how Cuban is going to handle this going forward.

Dbrown,
If Rondo continues to be an "enigma," it probably means that Carlisle will have to utilize an "ultra" strong remedy.
(One has to be a World War II nut to understand this statement.)

Does that have something to do with code breaking? I vaguely remember.
No need to confirmed. I googled it. I don't know how that fact stuck in my mind! Not much else does!!
WWII certainly was fascinating and makes a great study. There are more documentaries than you can watch in a lifetime and each one is extremely well done.

Right you are, Beat. The enigma machine was recovered by the Brits from a sinking Nazi sub. The Ultra machine was developed to combat it. That process is featured in the movie "The Imitation Game," which is highly recommended by me.
World War II was a phenomenon. It would be beyond stupid to romanticize war. But it was a conflict we could all wrap our arms around. After Pearl Harbor, there was near-unanimity among the U.S. populace as to the validity getting into the battle. The so-called conventional weapons were something we could understand (even if we hated them), and the concept of ground warfare was easy to relate to even among kids who were used to running through woods (remember woods?) in imaginary conflict with one another. Combatants were very real, and there was usually one from every block, as opposed to more recent dependence on more remote, technological (and hopefully life-saving) warfare. People watched out for one another. Baby sitting pools were common, as all the Rosie the Riveters needed help to spend hours in factories. In short, it was a war with which we could all identify unconditionally.
Again I have to be very clear in saying that war should not be romanticized, and it obviously would have been vastly better if World War II had never occurred. But it did occur, and I happen to believe it was probably the last large-scale U.S. endeavor on which we're all on the same page.
I also believe that America's Greatest Generation is not just a Tom Brokaw invention. I think it's factual. And, although this could be fodder for debate through the ages, I feel World War II is the reason we're all here and speaking English.
I apologize if this little diatribe seems somehow political in nature, as I discourage political discussions on the board and I feel this is an historical comment, not a political one.

BobC,
I just realized that I had omitted the name of the movie, meaning to go back and fill it in as I couldn't recall it. It's "The Imitation Game."

Just watched the trailer and could be good, ordered it from the library and there are 172 holds on it before me so I'm guessing it is real good!

Bobc,
It is good. It sounds as thought the library may need a new wing just for storing copies of this movie. How does the "Imitation Wing" sound?
