Holy crap!
#1 pick next year.
Maybe we should start losing now, to get in practice for the pingpong balls.

Re: Better prospect than Giannis A.?
I previously saw some videos on this kid and he really looks very talented.
7 footers are not supposed to have that type of handle. A year of college ball would help him get ready for the NBA. I would like to see how he does against 7 footers in college.
His skills are impressive.

Wow. I'd say he looks pretty good for an 18-year-old. He's definitely got athletic ability. Add some weight, stop swatting shots into the bleachers, and most of all, stop bringing the ball down every time -- he's going to get some serious bruises on those toothpick arms if he keeps that up. It will be interesting to see how he develops.

He has a younger brother who is already 6-11 with 16 years old and both are in Canada in High School.

The shot swatting was the only thing that bothered me. That could be altered. He does seem to jump quickly, which is the secret to blocking shots efficiently because the blocker doesn't get faked out.

Good point
kids now want to block the shot so that it goes into the stands. They do not have the skill nor the inclination to retain control of the ball...It is very interesting that no other player in NBA history other than the great Bill Russell perfected that skill. I doubt there are any teachers out there to teach a player how to do that. It remain the rarest of skills and not part of the NBA.
Maybe there should be a second statistical category added to the shot block and then retention. What Russell did was in fact two plays in one.
Maybe when a player blocks the shot and takes possession of the ball or blocks the shot over to a teammate the player shot get a shot block and a steal or a shot block and a rebound.
By the way if a player is guarding a guy and deflects the ball out of his control to a teammate who gets the steal? The guy that ends up with the ball who did really nothing of significance often times to deserve credit for the steal. Maybe they should add an assist category for defensive plays.

Bob would love this:
His Wikipedia page says that he has an 8'3" wingspan...

7'6" with an 8'3" wingspan? Holy Crapoly!
300#? Holy Crapoly!
There has to be a reason why he's playing for UC Irvine and not for a major program.

He's not polished, but he can dunk without jumping. Many guys with that kind of size never really get it together to actually be NBA players, but the few who do typically take a while to develop.bobheckler wrote:7'6" with an 8'3" wingspan? Holy Crapoly!

The Thon Maker example -- a seven-footer with athleticism and skills -- is the exception. The comparison that comes to mind with Ndiaye is 7'4" Mark Eaton, who worked as an auto mechanic after high school and was encouraged to try out for basketball when a junior college coach saw his length sticking out from under a car. Eaton played two years in junior college, followed by two years on the bench at UCLA, where he played only 41 total minutes.
Despite not having an impact at UCLA, Frank Layden of the Utah Jazz recognized Eaton's potential and drafted him in the fourth round. Eaton never averaged double-figures in points, but he anchored the Jazz defense as a rebounder and shot blocker, was an all-star once, and was defensive player of the year twice.
Ndiaye could be that kind of player. He might even be able to average double-figures in points.

Re: Better prospect than Giannis A.?
I think Ndiaye is more athletic than Eaton ever was.
he also is much stronger then Bol was.
I;m not sure he'll ever be an NBA player, but if he stays in school and improves even slightly next year, I think someone will draft him in the first round as a project.
I doubt he would fit with what Stevens is doing here, so I doubt he'll be in Green.
I only posted his info , because we were talking big men on this thread and I saw how he played against Louisville on a bigger stage.

Re: Better prospect than Giannis A.?
Bob, do you realize that wingspan is nearly three feet wider than we are tall?
