Magic Number Watch
Only 4 games to go. Time to start the "Magic Number" count.
I watched the Bulls-Heat game last night. Miami was up by 19 at the half. They just flat-out imploded in the 2nd half and the Bulls won going away by 11. Dragic airballed 2 3s and the Thugmaster had 9 points on 4-20. I wish I had a 'Comments From The Other Side' from this game, I'd love to hear the fair weather fans of the Heat roast Wade over an open fire. On the other side, an impressive rally and comeback by Thib's team. Some good defense, as you'd expect from a Thibs team, but only 38.5% shooting by the Heat. The Heat only had 14 assists on 34fgm, so that shooting percentage was due to one-on-one shooters missing.
Of the teams that are competing with the Celtics for a playoff spot, only Miami owns the tiebreaker over us. I believe we own the tiebreakers over Indy, Brooklyn and Charlotte so this loss by the Heat, which puts them 2 games behind us in the loss column, is BIG. They are the only team where tying us is good enough. So, even though Brooklyn has the same record as us, they are 1 Game Back because they need one less loss than us to beat us.
Seed------------Team------------W/L Record--------Games Back in the Loss Column
7....................Boston.............36-42.................---
8....................Brooklyn..........36-42.................1GB
9....................Indiana............35-43.................2GB
10...................Miami.............35-44.................2GB
11...................Charlotte.........33-45.................3GB
Our Magic Number to clinch a Playoff berth is 3, 4 to clinch #7.
Who'da thunk it?

Bob,
How come Miami doesn't appear in your list of competitors that wraps up your post?

sam,
Thanks. Must have been a Freudian "DWade on a banana peel" slip. I think it's right now.
