Shaq's 6'7" son, a freshman in high school.

When Shaq was a freshman, he was 6'6".

Can we get dibs?

It will be interesting to see Shaq's son develop.
I wonder if Shaq's son or Manute Bol's son could be drafted #1 four years from now?
They are saying Bol Bol could be a 7'4" small forward...
It's a little too early to predict...

I wish Shaq had spent a few of his good years with the Celts!

But can he shoot threes?  I want threes.  Lots and lots of threes.  Doesn't the kid know the wave of the future is the 3?

Let's see.  A high school freshman is age 14 or 15, right?  Geesh!  He's growing so fast; when does he get time to eat?

Sam, I don't like it either, and I know you were tongue in cheek, but threes are the wave.

Brandon hit 11 threes in a game recently as an 8th grader in a 40 minute game with running time except the last two minutes of each half. My first question when he told me that was who won? His team lost.

I tried to get him to concentrate on free throws and shots around the free throw line to no avail. I think he may have made the right choice......

Bobc,

That's pretty phenomenal!  And it definitely could be worth a lot of money down the line!  It was such a pleasure to meet Brandon and his family.  What a great kid.  Good looking, smart, athletic, outgoing...he's got it all.  And I'm absolutely sure you have played a major role in getting him to this point.  Congratulations!

BobC, make sure he's working on his ball handling and his floaters.

I don't know anything about the kid other than your post above, but if he ends up at PG height and isn't a great dribbler and doesn't have a good floater, he'll have sold himself short. Like my 5'9" self.

Good advice rambone. Brandon is the youngest Forum member and I'm good friends with his parents. He loves hoops and I've been helping him learn the game since about second grade.

He works hard on his dribbling; he is very, very tired of me harping on the need to develop his left hand! Not that I'll stop the harping. He is just starting to work on the floater. His parents are both way below 5'9" and I'd be surprised if he comes anywhere near that. For years I've told him and his parents it doesn't matter much what height you are you can play hoops. I think they are finally starting to believe me (though they always say that is easy for me to say I am 6'6") and having Isaiah Thomas join the Celtics has made the point easier to make.

BobC,

Jerry West stated that in his opinion the greatest skill advancement since his playing days has been in ball handling. I live across the street from a basketball court and I am absolutely amazed at the dribbling skills of these elementary school kids. Their ambidextrous skills at such a youthful age is remarkable.

Swish,

I think I would have liked your grandfather.  It's almost as if each generation has added three feet to the length of its favorite shot.
