Re: LeBron's Handling of Blatt Unbecoming
Db,
There's nothing magical about old posts. They just fade away.
I wouldn't mind having Thibs' input on the draft either, but it's extremely unlikely that signing him (a longshot in the first place) would happen that quickly.
Keep shooting out those ideas. They're consistently interesting, and I really appreciate them. Even if you were to diss Crowder, I'd have to pay attention. Now that's the acid test where I'm concerned.

Sam,
Unfortunately, I didn't see enough games with Crowder (or Celtics games period this season) in them to form an opinion on him. But the fact that you are all but staking your life on him is more than enough for me. I don't have to see him play. You've seen and experienced infinitely more Celtics than all of us on this board combined and probably squared.
I'm just looking forward to finding out what Danny is going to do come Thursday and how high he's going to move up. I'm assuming moving up is the most likely outcome and the real question is how much of a move.
I'm like you, though, in that I don't want Danny to throw too much into this draft. He has enough picks to easily move up. The Celtics have never been big on the draft as the way to the future. Trades and free agents seem to be Danny's MO and if you had to pick between those two, his best success was with trades. I don't think he will put too much into this draft unless a really ridiculous opportunity presents itself and those things typically just don't happen. But with draft picks, there is a lot more uncertainty with perceived value. And if Danny can find a crack in the wall, he will put the appropriate amount of dynamite jammed in there to blow it to smithereens in the Celtics favor.

D,
Great analogy with the dynamite and crack in the wall.
I don't claim to be the world's greatest authority on basketball horseflesh just because I've seen a lot of that flesh. But, over the years, i've appreciated the value that exceptional effort can add to the Celtics' chances. Starting with Frank Ramsey and continuing with John Havlicek, Larry Siegfried, K.C. Jones, Satch Sanders, Dave Cowens, Cedric Maxwell, and undoubtedly some I missed, they haven't all been stars but they're all added the spark that help to weld the team into a cohesive and effective whole. That's the kind of guy I believe Crowder is. He could always flame out, but I haven't seen any strong potential for that happening.
The whole period surrounding the draft should be fascinating. While Danny's definitely not infallible, I think he's pretty good at being opportunistic; and it's quite possible that to the opportunistic will go the spoils on Thursday. I'm about to start a 2015 Draft Thread in hopes that people will start contributing now and we'll create our own brand of fireworks on Thursday. Hope to see you and many others there.
