Couple more observations watching this.

* Larry's willingness to hit the floor time and time again coming up with the loose ball is amazing to watch. I think it was Artis Gilmore who told a young Larry son you don't want to be diving on the floor like that if you want to play a long time in this league.

* Watching Larry and Walton on the court together playing with unmitigated joy is my favorite basketball experience of all time. I hope someday to see something that even approaches it, but I doubt I will.

So God made the tree into hardwood for the parquet floor where she got to feel Larry Bird's warm sweaty body pressed against hers night after night.

That was magical year. I recall one game the broadcaster said that it looked like Bird was trying to match Walton spectacular pass for spectacular pass. The color guy responded that Bird never tries to match anything; he tries to beat it.
