Bill Simmons and Bob Ryan both look at June 8, 1986 as the night Larry Bird peaked. Hell, even Larry admits it.

The Celtics cruised to victory in Game 6 in the NBA Finals against the Houston Rockets. Legend cranked out 29 points, 11 rebounds, 12 assists and 3 steals in 46 minutes.

Watch the video and admire the skill and basketball intellect. Shooting, passing, rebounding, boxing out, jump balls, steals… you name it, Bird did it. No histrionics (ahem LeBron), just heart and hustle.

Bird was a legitimate basketball Terminator that night.

Poor Rodney McCray. He probably still sees that pump fake in his dreams.

Bird had many games where he posted even more impressive numbers but I've heard him say that that game six clincher was the one where he felt that he was in total control.
