Let's see if he can make it through the season both playing well and avoiding knucklehead moments. He had more than a few of those last season.

Can he be a double-double machine for years to come? Maybe. He might also be the next Larry Sanders.

No. They can offer him no more than all the rest of the teams in the NBA.

Maybe the Durant Decision (TM) takes all summer and we swoop in with an offer that he cannot refuse.

Wade and Deng numbers come off the books. If wade has another year of injuries it is possible that they may not want to offer him a bundle of money to resign even though he took a hit back when James was on board. Deng is gone and his replacement Winslow is already on the roster.

They cap is supposed to go up by 20% next year. before any new contracts are signed they are sitting at around $48 million. The Cap is supposed to jump to $89 mill and then go up from there. So you let Wade walk and sign Durant for $25 mill and Whiteside for around $15 mill and then add vet minimums

 Good question outside. The General manager has to make the decision in real time while the fan can look into his rear view mirror and apply hind-sight reasoning to the dilemma. With the General managers being in a better position than the fans to evaluate these types of situations I will just sit back and see how it all plays out, while hoping that Danny has real good reasons to want him and is able to sign him up.
