Josh Smith back to the Rockets
Doc sends the money to pay him the rest of the year and gets backs a bag of rocks.
So far Doc Rivers has proven to be a better coach than GM , as is usual.

Hard to believe everybody was ooohhing and ahhhing over him just 2 years ago. I mean it, I could not believe people thought he was so great.
Considering the way the Rockets are struggling this is like being banished to Coventry. Him and Rondo, talk about falls from grace.

Re: Josh Smith back to the Rockets
This guy is a great example of how an NBA player seems to be able to fit well in one place but not well at all in another place.
Whose fault is it? I don't know anything about the situation in Los Angeles for him or the Clippers, but the psychological factor always has to be addressed when things may not be going well for a player or for a team.
The "change-of-scenery" approach works many times in professional sports.

Josh Smith and Jeff Green probably do the least amount with the most amount of talent.
They guys have no heart and play dumb basketball.
The Rockets are desperate for a spark.
I'm doubtful it will be from Josh, but I guess it's worth the gamble.
It's not costing them anything....

TJ,
As a rule "you get what you pay for".

Bob from what I have seen Rondo is playing pretty damn good. I know it is customary to just lump him in there with the Josh Smith's of the world however he has nothing to do with the recent transaction..
At times I think the criticism is a little overboard.
Rondo is averaging 11.7 PPG, 11.7 assists, 6.4 rebounds and 1.8 steals. He is still a horrible free throw shooter but I guess you cannot have everything. Consider he is # 1 in assists in the NBA and # 2 in rebounds from the PG position. The notions that everything slows down because he is a pathological ball control PG may not be as prominent as we suspect. Consider that the Celtics average 88.9 FGA per game. The Kings average 86.1
However the Celts only shoot 43% while the Kings shoot 46% which more than makes up for the 2.8 shoots per game difference.
The notion that he has fallen from grace is greatly exaggerated.
It is clear that one of the deficiencies that the Celtics have is the inability to run an efficient offense. Too many bad shots are taken and we do not have a single player on this team that is an above average passer.

Re: Josh Smith back to the Rockets
yes Rondo has played well under Karl this year. Karl is well known as a coach who uses PGs well.
Rondo thought he was a MAX contract player just a couple years ago. He is playing on a on year deal at under $10M right now.
I would guess his next deal (based on how well he is doing now) will be more in the $14-16M per year range. Which IMO is fair for his skillset.
I am glad he's not here for that salary myself.
