Re: Bogut signs with Lakers
Yes, the Lakers are on the rise.
They won 17 games two years years ago.
They won 26 games last year.
They are projected to win over 30 games this year.
They will have tens of millions of dollars in cap space.
I didn't say Horford and Hayward were just okay players.
I questioned whether they were great signings.
MANY here have also questioned whether they are great signings.
Many last season thought or complained that Danny over paid for Horford.
Many Celtics weren't excited about giving Hayward $128m.
Not every team would be excited about paying them $60m per year.
Are they a good fit with Boston? Yes.
Are they superstars? No.

Re: Bogut signs with Lakers
Horford and Hayward are better signings than Deng, Mozgov and Caldwell-Pope.
The market dictates what the players get, not yahoos on the Internet. They are NOT overpaid, they are paid what multiple (more than one) teams offered them. That is NOT their fault.
Any Celtic not excited about Gordon Hayward is now backing up LeBron in CLE, but nice try,
WHEN the lakers sign anyone as good as Horford or Hayward, I will give them props. Until then...........it's smoke and mirrors, and Magic's smile saying "all is well", like Kevin Bacon in Animal House!

At this point in his career, I am sure he wants to compete for a championship.
He signed late last year with the Cleveland, which made a ton of sense.
Why the Lakers this year?
As for the Lakers, they already have Lopez as their starting center, Zubac as his backup and I was expecting Randle to be the 3rd/small ball center.
I wonder if LA is planning on trading Zubac this year for a future draft pick. I do think LA could get a future lottery protected 1st round pick for Zubac.
I wouldn't be surprised if LA trades Bogut near the trade deadline or waives him late in the season so he can play for a contender.
Signing Bogut was odd to me. I wonder what the reasoning behind it was.
When a Laker fan and a Celtic fan agree that the signing of Bogut does not make sense for the Lakers...
Even Michael Jordan, considered GOAT, drafted Adam Morrison.
Like I said, being a great player doesn't mean you'll automatically become a great NBA executive.

If Lopez misses some time, then signing Bogut makes a ton of sense.
It seems like Boston could have used Bogut more than LA.
Boston hasn't yet solved their rebounding woes.
Magic might be great in this role, maybe he won't be.
People who predict his success or failure need to give him time.

Zubac impresses me a lot, and I think he will be a valuable player in LA for years to come. I am surprised to read people dissing Magic. He has alwsys been a winner, and I expect he will be one helluva GM.

One good thing about long range predictions - you can always hope that a prediction that turns out to be a major gaffe is forgotten by others because of the passage of time.

Magic has succeeded in everything he's tried. I think he'll be a very good GM. I just think it will take 5 years...........not 2

The rest require preemptive taxes, registration forms that must be filled out in duplicate and a 3/5the majority vote of approval by a judging panel made up of 5 clones of scarlet johansen

Matty,
I might be willing to go through all that for the opportunity of being judged by Scarlett Johanssen 5x.

Re: Bogut signs with Lakers
The son of my high school girlfriend and life long friend is a film-maker who is also one of Josh Hartnett's best friends. They lived together in NYC for years. During that time Josh and Scarlett were a couple, and my friend's son, his gal (a supermodel), Josh, and Scarlett would regularly watch DVD's together and eat popcorn on the couch. Two normal couples enjoying life. Since then both guys have moved on to other women. No matter how beautiful the women, guys have a way of tiring of that feminine allure - even Scarlett's - and moving on to graze on other pastures.

sometimes this is true, on the other hand when I was a lad of 16 I told myself I was going to marry a particular gal- or no one. that was 27 years ago. said gal is currently about 20 feet from me eating lunch. (sure it took 21 years, but I got married to her in the end)

I'm all for monogamy and think I've found the right one myself...4 years into this experiment. We'll see how the next decade unfolds. I was previously married for 12 years and never strayed.

mrkleen,
I am trying to focus on the handful of posts that are about Scarlett. If something is going to get my blood going, that would be it.

As a native New Yorker, she's probably a Knicks fan.
If so, I totally forgive her.

NYCelt,
I'm a native New Yorker (Flushing, Queens and Woodside, Queens before that) too. That is not an acceptable excuse any more than any other form of ignorance is. Being a stone-cold fox, on the orher hand, is a get out of Knicks Hell free card.

Bob,
Great response!
My brother and his family live in Floral Park. He's lived in Queens for the past 20 years.
