Where is Kyrie????

Anyone know what happened with Kyrie? He has not been in the building for at least the last 2 games. Surprised I didn’t see him on the bench in game 5 at the Garden.
Anyone know? Shouldn’t he be there?

Of course he should.

I would say that he doesn't "belong" on the bench in Cleveland, but he certainly should be on the bench in in Boston. Same for Hayward and Theis. I am sure that all three will be with their team on Sunday night.

Here's an interview with Theis yesterday before the game.  In this interview he talks aout his rehab schedule and whether he'll be with the team etc.  He says that right from coming out of surgery there was a very defined schedule of specific goals and that you have to do those things when they are supposed to be done and if that means being in Boston to work with a specific therapist, then you're in Boston and it doesn't matter where the team is or what they are doing.

Where's Kyrie?  Where's Hayward?  Well, the last I heard he's in Indianapolis working with an ankle specialist because that's where he is in his rehab.

then there was that ridiculous story from Jalen Rose about him not rooting for the Celtics.  Hayward is back and forth from Indy with rehab although I saw him on the bench a couple of times.

Many times when KG was out, he would never be on the bench.  I was always questioning it until one day Danny addressed the issue saying that KG was so worked up during games he could not play in that he sat in the locker room watching the game. This started happening with other players.  It is an issue I think should be addressed by the team. Many times they are too hurt, but in Kyrie's case he is more than capable of sitting. Are we sure he was not there????

He wasn’t there but maybe there is a good reason. I would think with him having played for the Cavs he could certainly help the coaching staff in some way and maybe he has. I’m just being a nosy old wash woman. I’m pretty sure that the staff and players knows what’s best for the team. But for sure, Kyrie was not at game 5 or 6.

Bad really bad. He’s on network Tv and apparently didn’t brother to research it. I always assume that they, (Ex players) always have the inside scoop. Players talk off the record all the time so generally when you hear it from an ex player its usually the truth unveiled. With that being said I assumed that Jackson knew the real deal and if he was right and Kyrie just didn’t show, i would agree with him. He was wrong and what is worst..He DID NOT KNOW! Bad! Jackson never mentioned the surgery which tells me that he didn’t do his homework. That’s bad.
And believe it or not the Pundits are now going in on that (the surgery) saying its BS and a poor excuse?! They gotta have something to keep it going cuz that’s what they do!
I just wanted to know where he was. I now know. I too am done, over, out...

I remember when KG missed most of one season due to injury and would not come to the games.

In any case this is just another example of an x player now sports commentator looking to make a mountain out of a molehill.

And in the “lets see how far they go” department. I heard Danny jokingly say regarding Kyrie being out there with his nose bandaged up, that he wouldn’t want to hurt Kyrie’s movie career.
The played the audio of that on NBA radio and one of the commentators, i think It was Legler intimate that Danny was taking a subtle shot at Kyrie.
These things always (think Brink’s truck comment) take on a life of its own.

Danny was so good-hearted in that comment. Tim Legler, get a life!

Injured Celtics point guard Kyrie Irving drew attention for where he wasn’t on Sunday when he didn’t show up to Boston’s Game 7 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers at TD Garden.

During the game broadcast, ESPN commentator Mark Jackson called Irving out for not being with his teammates for such an important game.

“He is so valuable to this franchise,” Jackson said. “You never know what he sees that a coach does not see. If he’s just at home chilling or somewhere not important, to me, that’s a problem. I would much rather have the great Kyrie Irving in the building. This is Game 7.”


Danny Ainge explains Kyrie Irving’s absence

Celtics general manager Danny Ainge was quick to squash that criticism on Monday, explaining that Irving had recently undergone nasal surgery.

“Kyrie had a deviated septum, had some surgery on that, and so I don’t think he wanted to be seen,” Ainge said. “He’s a really good-looking guy, has his movie career,” Ainge joked, alluding to the “Uncle Drew” movie coming out this summer.

Irving missed the end of the regular season and all of the playoffs after having surgery in April to remove screws from his left knee that had been placed in a 2015 procedure to repair a broken kneecap. The screws had to be removed when tests revealed they were infected with bacteria.

The team said at the time that Irving would need four to five months to recover.
