Danny Ainge Steps Down
Danny Ainge Steps Down to Leave at seasons end
WEEI - Phil Brody
APP Wire Services
Danny Ainge long time president and former GM of the Boston Celtics stepped down from his current position and will leave at the conclusion of the season. Ownership and players were shocked at the news of his departure, however anonymous sources are quoted as saying both management and coaching staff were not statified in player selection in the draft and his inability to attract top free agents.
This is a developing story by WEEI Boston.

I wonder if this has anything to do with Wyc selling his share of the team? There was a report that Sidd Finch might buy in.

Gawd #&$#;&!!!
I was on vacation most of the last two weeks and thought tomorrow was the first, so here I am at hooters seeing this, then dealing with beer coming out of my nose and gagging, which is not a good look for me at all.
Oh well at least I got past the Ides of March without incident.

Loved it as soon as I saw it. 112288 has a wicked good sense of humor.
Couldn't help but add to it rather than call April Fools on it.
Wonder how many got the Sidd Finch reference?

I knew it was April Fools Day because I promised my wife this morning that there would be no shenanigans from me today, yet I still fell for it.
Good one!

Re: Danny Ainge Steps Down
Rosalie,
That one came from me. Sounds like you remember it too.
Sidd Finch was one of the all-time great April 1st hoaxes; Sports Illustrated pulled it off along with George Plimpton.
They did a feature article, written by Plimpton, for their issue that was hitting news stands April 1, 1985. It was made to look real, and Finch was supposedly a Mets rookie who could throw a fastball over something like 150mph. The Mets were in on it. The whole country fell for it, and no one seemed to catch the first line. If you took the first letter from each word in that line it read Happy April Fools Day!
The magazine and the Mets played it up for all it was worth, announcing that Finch had decided to retire to pursue yoga just a week later. A couple of weeks after the story came out, SI let on that it was all a hoax.
As you correctly recall, Plimpton ended up making it into a novel.
112288 reminded me of that with his "fake news."
What a great idea. Reading the headline about Ainge, I'm betting he caught every one of us for at least a little bit.
Regards

There used to be a record out with that whole "War of the Worlds", years and years ago. I bought it for my Dad because he remembered it and talked about it vividly. Welles was a genius the way he pulled that off.

Still stands as THE greatest ever.
Probably couldn't do that one now. You'd need the video to back it up.

Rosalie
I still have vivid memories of that Halloween night in 1938 - below is a recording of that show some 80 years ago.

Hadn’t heard of that one Swish and I’m a Bostonian. Looked it up and guess it caused quite a stir! The producer got fired for it.
