NBA Rumors: Celtics could draft Oregon's Bol Bol at No. 20 or 22

The Boston Celtics could move any one of their three first-round picks in the 2019 NBA Draft.

But if they keep the 20th and/or 22nd selections, they could take a flier on a big man with tantalizing upside.

Several teams believe Oregon center Bol Bol won't fall past the Celtics in the late first round, Bleacher Report's Jonathan Wasserman reported Thursday.

Some believed the 7-foot-2 Sudanese center -- the son of former NBA center Manute Bol -- could be a lottery pick out of high school, and he averaged 21 points, 9.6 rebounds and 2.7 blocks per game during his first nine contests at Oregon. A left foot injury ended his freshman season prematurely, though, and concerns about his health and unpolished game have lowered his draft stock.

The Celtics could have an acute need for a big man if they let Al Horford walk in free agency and trade Aron Baynes, and it appears they'd be willing to roll the dice on the 19-year-old Bol if he's still around at 20 or 22.

That's a big "if," as the Indiana Pacers seemingly have interest in Bol at No. 18, according to John Canzano of the Oregonian.

The Boston Celtics might be cooking up something fierce in their draft-night kitchen. Danny Ainge, Boston’s president of basketball operations, is looking to make a significant move ahead of the 2019 NBA Draft, The Boston Globe’s Gary Washburn reported Thursday morning. The Celtics are looking to package picks (they own the Nos. 14, 20 and 22 selections) and/or veterans to either move up in the draft or acquire an established star.understand that “Ainge could be working on a major draft-night deal,” Washburn wrote. “An NBA source said he believes the Celtics are working on such a deal to nab a veteran player and could use those draft picks to work out a trade.” Added Washburn: “Ainge is trying to move up in this draft, targeting Vanderbilt point guard Darius Garland, the poster player for this mercurial draft. Garland played five games last season, a total of 139 minutes, because of a knee injury, and he decided to declare for the draft.” While nothing is set and stone, it appears that both Beal and Garland are off the table. The Washington Wizards reportedly are not interested in dealing Beal, and the Cleveland Cavaliers reportedly are eying Garland at the No. 5 pick. Of course, neither of those things preclude the Celtics from making serious noise Thursday night.

NBA Draft Rumors: Celtics Looking Into Cavaliers’ No. 5 Overall Pick

The Celtics have yet to make any draft night moves, but it appears Boston is still inquiring about moving up into the lottery. It had been previously reported that the Celtics were interested in the No. 4 overall pick, but the Atlanta Hawks swooped in and reportedly acquired that selection from the New Orleans Pelicans, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. The Celtics have now shifted their focus to the No. 5 overall pick, reaching out to Cleveland Cavaliers about its availability, according to Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com. The Chicago Bulls and Minnesota Timberwolves are also in play for the pick, per Fedor. The Hawks are reportedly focused on Virginia’s DeAndre Hunter, which would open the door for Boston to move up and select Vanderbilt’s Darius Garland at No. 5.

Atlanta moving up for Hunter was somewhat of a surprise to me.

Hard to see how Sexton and Garland will co-exist in Cleveland long term too.

They are on until 11 o’clock.  This ought to be a thrill. I was very interested in what that reporter had to say about Al.  It scares me if Al does join Phillly.

Question:  what would happen if the Nets back out on Kyrie? Sign and trade deal. I cannot imagine him trying to come here. He could be in a big mess

I would guess if the Nets back away from Irving , he might end up with Lebron and the Lakers on a shorter term deal.
