Bulls take Gafford. Was thinking he might be a player that could give Boston what they needed with some strong defensive minutes and rebounding.

JUST A QUESTION, HOW DO YOU CONSTRUCT A BENCH...........I MEAN A REAL BENCH WITH UNPROVEN ROOKIES..........COME ON! DANNY EITHER HAS SOME GRAND MASTER PLAN TO GET US OUT OF THIS MESS OR HE HAS JUST GONE NUTS!
THERE WERE FAR BETTER PLAYERS ON THE BOARD THE CELTICS COULD HAVE DRAFTED ............LITTLE AT 20 AND THE FRENCH KID AT 14 . THAT FRENCH KID IS REALLY GOOD AND AT 18 YEARS OLD AND AT 6'9" HE WILL BE 7' FOOT AT 21.
DANNY YOU ARE STARTING TO SMELL LIKE 2 DAY OLD COD ON THE LONG WHARF PIER ON MILK STREET!

He injured his thumb IN NOVEMBER and refused surgery until after the season was over so he could help his teammates. He slipped to 14 because of it, but still was more concerned with his team than himself. Exactly the kind of character you want in a young man.

CAN YOU LIVE WITH YOUR SHOOTING GUARD SHOOTING 27% FROM BEYOND THE ARC AND A 72% FT SHOOTER?

Your bench typically is going to be made up of some combination including a few rookies and 2nd year players. You're also looking for depth with playmakers and shooters. You would normally supplement your bench via the draft, as well as other means.
Assuming Ainge and Co haven't gone completely insane, I'm speculating there's a plan here. It's a guess, but they may have looked at the available bigs and decided there was just no one there that was going to be a strong rotation player down the road. It is a fairly weak draft.
They're also raising cash. The team has wings, and talented ones at that. There are possible starting points in Smart and maybe Rozier. None of the players selected are potential NBA starters, but each has a specific skill. That's contributing to depth.
Now, there is just one thing missing. Bigs. And you've got cash. FA bigs. What else could possibly be the reasoning here tonight?

Don't you think that's a bit premature?
I mean, I'm sure he's had worse.

May as well.
That or just sign him undrafted.
Probably not an NBA player, but might be fun to take a look. You never know.

SURE ROOKIES AND A FEW SECOND YEAR GUYS MAKING UP YOUR BENCH IF YOU ARE LOOKING TO TANK BUT TO BUILD A WINNER, YA NEED VETS WITH A FEW YOUNGSTERS THROWN INTO THE MIX !
WE ARE LOOKING 3 YEARS UNLESS A MIRACLE HAPPENS.

Tremont Waters is small (but he's a really good playmaker).

Sign him up for summer league. Kick the tires, why not?

PG Tremont Waters at 51. We like our small guards.
$26 mill or more in cap space. Draftees that could be acceptable reserves, but unlikely to crack a regular rotation. One of the last remaining bigs dumped to lighten the payroll.
There's more going on with this team, I'm sure.
Finished the bourbon. Stuff to do tomorrow.
It's been a blast.

Cs looks like they'll need to address the big positions in free agency. Added lots of guard depth. Will Rozier be back?

I am now totally on board with the two guards Danny traded. I assume he is signing a big FA.
