Marcus Morris Empty Marcus Morris

As FA dollars dry up you cannot help but get the feeling that Marcus Morris may have few suitors.  I was amazed at seeing the NY Knicks blow through CAP space by adding a collection of good players that I think are in the same overall category as Morris.

The slot that Morris could have fit was given to Portis $15.5 milion.  They spread the money out with Ellington and Payton getting $8 million per for 2 yeras, Bullock getting $10.5 per for 2 years and Gibson at $10 per for 2 years and their prized signing Julius Randle got $21 per for 3 years.

Morris probably would have been signed already as he would have fit into one of those $10 million for 2 year slots.

He is now likely to end up with yet another short money contract.

What's a well deserving player gotta do to get paid what he's worth with all this money floating around. He was probably our second most consistent player all season if not first.

You're right dboss...the pond is drying up. Sad, really sad.

Well it always opens the door that he could return to Boston.

Can Boston go over the CAP to sign him?  If they can they may want to do that.  At the very least it gives them a tradeable contract down the road.

We still have his bird rights according to spotrac

https://www.spotrac.com/nba/boston-celtics/cap/2019/

and the holds for Theis and Wannamaker are still shown for now also.

that means we can offer Morris more than anyone except the losing team in the K. Leonard sweepstakes.

Now that Theis has signed an extension and they signed Poirier, I think this is the team we have, slight changes possibly with 2 way contracts.

Ballhandlers: Walker, Smart, Edwards, Waters
Wing: Brown, Tatum, Hayward, Langford, Ojeleye, G Williams, Strus (2-way)
Big: Theis, Kanter, R Williams, Poirier, Yabusele, Fall (2-way)

Clearly wrong. Just re-signed Wanamaker. Waters to 2-way deal?

I guess Morris will not be returning now unless Danny opens up a spot with a trade.
