The Celtics play the Knicks tonight at home.  Last week they beat the Knicks in MSG 118-95.

The Knicks are 1-4 with their lone win coming against the Bulls.

This is a strange team. Going into the summer there were high expectations for them to land one and maybe even 2 elite players in FA.  They were able to draft Barrett out of Duke but their chance to build around high draft picks took a big hit when Kristaps Porzingis asked out.    Durant was asked, in a recent interview, about choosing Brooklyn over the Knicks and he basically said that the Nets had good young players.

The  Knicks used up all of their $70+ million cap space by signing PF's Randle, Portis, Gibson and Morris.  They all have that rough and tumble profile but it is a strange mix to add to the soup.  They will play hard but their collective skill levels leaves much to be desired.

Their starting lineup has changed several times.  Payton (the x flopping hairdo) is out so expect a starting lineup of Robinson, Randle, Morris, Barrett and a PG.  That could be their high draft pick from a few years ago Ntilikina.  ha.  They have also started 2 game with no PG.  It's up to Frizzy.

Boston should not overlook the importance of this game as they are about to head out on a mini 3 game road trip.

If Boston can control the glass they should be able to win this game.  Keep them off of the offensive boards and block out please.  I saw several plays in the first game where RW switched out to check a guy and the Celtics are standing around like spectators while the Knicks positioned themselves for offensive rebounds (16 - 13) and totals rebounds (66-54) 

Kanter is out and both JB and RW are doubtful so I guess a heavy dose of Daniel Theis and some help off the bench from VP and Grant Williams and Semi will be needed.

If JB does not play Smart will slide into the lineup.  Still waiting for VP and Langford to get some minutes.  When guys are out it is an excellent opportunity to get more guys some minutes.  The Celtics will not win the title tonight.
