The Celtics begin their 5 game road trip tonight in San Francisco.

Tip off is set for 10:30 and I will have to watch it on ESPN.  This game lost it's luster when Durant and Thompson went down to injury during the finals.  To add insult to injury, Curry is also out.

Theis and Robert Williams are probable and Romeo Langford will learn to keep a bag packed as he was sent to Maine again.

Can you believe that GS has the worst record in the NBA at 2-10? They are giving up 121 PPG.

After the Wizards game, the Celtics should be well motivated to play a little defense.  CE came off the bench and led our second unit in scoring.  With Smart moving into the starting unit I expect to see a lot of integration of the starters and the bench players.

I hope Boston takes full advantage of this opportunity to add another nail in the coffin of a once proud team that has fallen all the way to the bottom of the shit pile.

Red Claws game on before Celtics Game. I am watching right now, almost half time. Langford rolled his ankle, out for the rest of the game? This is beginning to look a little depressing for this kid. He had a great game the first game. Tacko playing very well. Already a double/double with 39 seconds left. Waters has been sporty!!

Unfortunately I do not get to watch them play.

No doubt Romeo is really snake bitten. The kid cannot seem to stay clear of injuries.

Bob and I really enjoyed the game and especially the new hi tech Chase Center venue. Loved the solid play of the two J's, MaRcus and Theis, but the no name Dubs played with more energy and at times had the refs making egregious calls in their favor. RWill must be hurt. He played well but then saw no more minutes.
GWill? I did not see anything to encourage me about his play. He did not establish inside position on rebounds.

I had forgotten something things about the GSW no matter how bad they look on paper. Looks like BOS almost forgot about them as well. Three things.

1) They are still coached by Steve Kerr
2) The are still the Golden State Warriors
3) Any team in the NBA can play inspired ball on any given night

GS really deserved to win that game. But BOS showed me something last night. A glimmer if you will. And reminded me of my past.

As most of you know, I grew up in Raleigh during the NC State glory years. I distinctly remember like it was yesterday the 1974 NCAA tournament semifinal game between UCLA and NC State.

Still dubbed as one of the greatest games of all time, it went to Double OT with NC State eventually winning out. It was the Finals. State had a cakewalk on Monday against Al McGuire's Marquette Warriors.

But when State fell behind to UCLA by 5 points early in the 2OT where there were no 3-point bailouts, I gave up on them. I went outside and shot baskets, extremely pissed that we were going to come up short on one of the greatest years in college basketball ever and right in my own backyard no less! Thank God my dad, who was a State grad BTW, came out and told me I needed to come back inside and watch what was happening.

15 minutes later all the kids on Carolyn Drive were in the back on one of the neighbor's pick up trucks parked on the street shouting "We're No#1" to all who passed and honked their horns.

I relay all this because I caught myself going into the 4th quarter last night flipping between the live game on LP and my recording of the game which was early in the 2nd quarter. I decided I had seen enough live, I had thought GSW had played well enough and deserved to win up to that point and just started watching the recorded part accepting our 9-2 record. I had forgotten like I did 45 years ago that the game isn't over until the horn goes off and the score isn't tied.

What Boston showed me was, no matter how we looked, which really wasn't bad and no matter who were are playing, even if it appears to be the worst team in the league, the Celtics have something that will never show up on the stat sheets...an incredible desire to win...to be ahead when the horn goes off no matter how bad it looks. Last season, this game was a loss for us. Not this year.

And as much as I'd like to see us go 81-1, we're going to lose at least one more game this season! But we will be in just about all of them if not all of them all the way to the end. That's all you can ask for in the NBA Put yourself in a position to win every night. Very few teams each year in the NBA are in that position that will make that claim or experience that. This year? Every game? Maybe LAC, LAL?

Imagine this team with a healthy GH and a more experienced RWill.
