Not at all. Napping, maybe. As offensive trends change, it will re-emerge.

I have been posting similar thoughts the past few years. Defenses cannot cover everything, and the trend in the modern game is that defenses are more willing to give up the midrange shot to defend against 3's and layups. This results in midrange shots becoming easier to make, increasing their efficiency. Another consideration is that since the league currently de-values midrange players, they are becoming cheaper and cheaper. A smart GM on a low budget team will figure this out and build a good team around low cost good midrange players.
