This Day In History
On this day in 1966 the Texas Western Miners defeated the heavily favored Kentucky Wildcats 72-65 to win the NCAA Championship in College Park, Maryland. What made this game especially noteworthy was that Texas Western became the first basketball team to start 5 black players in a national title game as it faced an all-white Kentucky squad.
And the rest is history.

Re: This Day In History
A monumental event - as it was a signal of future black dominance in the NBA.
