How to watch Boston Celtics games 2020-21: Live stream, TV channel, schedule

The Boston Celtics are back in action after a shortened offseason as the 2020-21 NBA season kicks off. Fans won’t be allowed at home games for the foreseeable future, but Celtics games will return to the TD Garden and other NBA venues as the league takes one more step closer to returning to normal amid the COVID-19 pandemic. So far, the first half of the 2020-21 Celtics TV schedule has been released, running through to March 4. Stay tuned for updates throuhg the rest of the season as games progress.

Celtics games will bounce around the channels this season, with NBC Sports Boston carrying local broadcasts and ESPN, ABC, TNT and NBA TV sharing national broadcasts. You can also watch the games for free online if you signup for a free trial of fuboTV or Sling.

TV channel: NBC Sports Boston will carry the majority of Celtics games this season, with some games being exclusive to national broadcasts. I can get most of the games with NBA League (or Team) Pass.  Then there are a few gaps to fill.

For some folks, like dboss and me, Youtube TV replaces Sling in the above listing, which covers the nationally broadcast gap.  Youtube TV has TNT, ESPN and ESPN2.  It may also have NBATV.  It may be a paid for add-on for Youtube TV, I don't remember.  When I had Sling, NBA TV was a definitely a paid for add-on. ($10/month)

Sling didn't have the local channels back when I had it, but Youtube TV does.  That covers the games broadcast on ABC, CBS and NBC, actually just ABC now, but it is nice to have all the local channels.

The last gap in watching any Celtics games for me was those against the Charlotte Hornets, home and away.  Those games were subject to a blackout on NBA League (or Team) Pass.   I now can get the local sports channel (similar to NBC Sports Boston in the New England area) so that gap is covered.  For those people in the NE area that don't pay for dish or cable TV, I imagine NBC Sports Boston is on YouTube TV.  The same goes for anyone across the USA, any League Pass blackouts in their area due to a local NBA team should have a regional sports channel playing on Youtube TV.

Now the only problem I have is the time delay with games on League Pass and maybe even those on Youtube TV.  The time delay is often about 2 minutes (plus or minus a few seconds).   If I follow along on the Game On! thread, I can read about a particular play, good or bad.   Early on, I would make a prediction about a play to Janie and surprise her with my prescience.    

It didn't take her long to figure that one out!
