The Dallas Mavericks - A Mirror Image of Results
Spotlight on the Dallas Mavericks. They may be one of the least talked about teams.
Their trajectory since the beginning of this year very closely mirrors the Celtics.
They were 17-18 before January and we were 17-19.
Over the past 30 games both teams have been winning at a high percentage. Dallas has put together an impressive 23-7 stretch and Boston has posted a 22-8 record.
Both teams are sitting at #5 in their respective conferences.
Both teams are 1 game back in the loss column from their 4th place competitors (#4 Jazz and #4 Bulls)
Both teams have beaten Denver, Chicago, Philly, Memphis and Miami during this stretch of games.
Both teams made roster altering trades. Porzingas was sent to Washington for Dinwiddie and Bertans. As you know Boston made multiple trades with 2 key guys going out (Richardson and Schroeder) and 2 key guys coming in (White and Theis)
So someone tell me how Dallas can even be considered a contender when Powell is their main center? My only logical take is that Luka Donci is a clear choice for MVP of the league and that coach Kidd has done a great job in getting this team to also play great defense. Their offense is a given because of Luka but their defense is the biggest surprise. They give up a measly 103.7 PPG.
Are they an Elite team in the West or just a solid contender?
