LOT OF LATE BREAKING NEWS SO WE'LL TRY TO SUMMERIZE

1) Kendrick Perkins, Nate Robinson traded for Jeff Green, Nenad Krstic, 2012 first-round pick

The Boston Celtics have traded Kendrick Perkins and Nate Robinson to Oklahoma City for Jeff Green and Nenad Krstic. Celtics also receive the Clippers’ (top-10 protected) 2012 first-round draft choice.
Green, who is averaging 15.2 points and 5.6 rebounds this season, originally was drafted by Boston with the No. 5 overall pick in 2007.

WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND
In a deal orchestrated by a then 30-year-old Presti, the Celtics traded Green's rights to the Seattle SuperSonics in exchange for shooting guard Ray Allen, who has since become the NBA's all-time 3-point leader. That trade also included Wally Szczerbiak, Delonte West and a 2008 second-round pick from Boston, plus second-round pick Glen Davis from the Sonics.

TRADE SENSE
This trade only makes sense if A) the Celtics have complete faith that both O’Neal’s will return to perfect health this season — which makes no sense whatsoever, because they’re about as durable as a glass of water, B) Perkins’ strained MCL was worse than we expected — which makes no sense, because approximately two hours ago he said he might return during this Celtics’ road trip, C) Perk wasn’t going to sign in Boston after this season — which makes no sense, because he said he couldn’t see himself anyplace else, or D) Danny Ainge still has something up his sleeve, which would explain the Semih Erden/Harangody deal that opened up two roster spots.

2) Traded Semih Erden/Luke Harangody to Cleveland

For a second-round draft choice in this year’s draft 2012.

3) VALUE OF ERDEN/HARANGODY TRADE

The real value is in the roster spots that open with Erden and Harangody off the books. The Celtics were at the maximum number of players allowed on an NBA roster with 15 and this clears the way for them to puruse veteran free agents such as Troy Murphy and Rip Hamilton, once they are bought out by their teams.

4)DANIELS TRADE TO KINGS

The agent for Marquis Daniels said that his client would not not exercise his right to veto the trade that sent him to Sacramento and also added that he doesn't expect the Kings to buy him out of his contract. "What we've got to do is get him healthy," Mark Bartelstein said. The move opened a roster spot for the Celtics to try to acquire another player. As a player with 'Early Bird' contract rights Daniels could have vetoed the deal, but with his health the primary concern, he elected not to go that route.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP)—The Sacramento Kings have acquired swingman Marquis Daniels(notes) and cash considerations from the Boston Celtics in exchange for a future draft pick. Kings president of basketball operations Geoff Petrie announced the deal Thursday. Boston will get a protected second-round pick in the 2017 draft.

5) CAP SPACE OPENS WITH TRADES

Beyond this season, these moves could clear ample cap space for the future. Krstic will be an unrestricted free agent after this season and Green will be restricted. With only Rajon Rondo, Paul Pierce and Avery Bradley under contract beyond the 2012 season, the Celtics could be prime players in the next great free agent class that is likely to include Dwight Howard, among others.

6) BUY OUTS - WHO IS AVAIABLE

It is entirely possible that Ainge has something up his sleeve. That a potentially fertile buyout season could see the Celtics finding help at center (with Samuel Dalembert(notes)), power forward (with Troy Murphy(notes)), or in the backcourt (if Richard Hamilton(notes) ever decides that he wants to earn the money he's been guaranteed to play pro basketball). This might not be over.

Is Rasheed Wallace in Celtics' future? - By A. Sherrod Blakely CSNNE.com

Semih Erden and Luke Harangody were traded primarily to open up roster spots, with at least one expected to be filled by a veteran player who becomes available via buy-out, or is currently unsigned. Troy Murphy, who was recently traded from New Jersey to Golden State, is expected to receive a buy-out from the Warriors soon. Murphy is said to be weighing offers from the Celtics, Magic and Heat. But Boston may also bring back Rasheed Wallace, who has remained in the metro Boston area after retiring following Boston's Game Seven loss to the Lakers in last year's NBA Finals. Although he told CSNNE.com this past summer that his NBA career was a "wrap like Christmas," sources have indicated recently that Wallace might have a change of heart if the C's had a roster spot become available.

Marcus Camby has also been mentioned as well as a buy out.

REPORT: CELTICS INK D-LEAGUE CENTER JOHNSON

In order to fill one of the two roster spots voided by the three trade deadline deals made on Thursday, the Celtics signed the NBA Development League's Chris Johnson of the Dakota Wizards to a 10-day contract and expect him to play against the Nuggets, according to Fan House.

The Celtics reportedly dealt Kendrick Perkins and Nate Robinson to the Thunder for Jeff Green and Nenad Krstic, sent Semih Erden and Luke Harangody to the Cavaliers for a 2013 second-round pick and capped a wild afternoon by shipping Marquis Daniels and cash to the Kings for a protected second-round pick in the 2017 draft.

Those deals left the Celtics with just eight available players entering Thursday night's game against the Celtics-- hence the Johnson signing. The 6-foot-11, 210-pound center averaged 16.9 points, 9.6 rebounds, 2.9 blocks and 1.3 assists in 32.7 minutes per game this season for the D-League team based in North Dakota. He also shot 52.1 percent from the field and 73.4 percent from the free-throw line. Johnson participated in Celtics training camp this past summer.
