BYE BYE BABY?

The Celtics will reportedly acquire Brandon Bass from the Magic in a sign-and-trade with Glen Davis, per Yahoo! Sports. Bass and Davis were teammates for one season at LSU and are somewhat similar players in that they are both power forwards with perimeter offensive games who are sometimes forced to defend centers on defense. But Bass is a better shooter and more athletic than Davis.

Bass averaged 11 points and 5.6 rebounds while starting 51 games for Orlando last season and he's a solid outside shooter, especially from 16-23 feet. The Celtics bench is beginning to take shape with Keyon Dooling, Marquis Daniels and Bass, who has a player option for next season at $4 million. Davis was believed to be looking for a deal in that range.

NBA trades cannot be announced until 2 p.m. The Herald also reported the move.
