Chris Wilcox's stats:

Career-wise, unimpressive, but he had a good last year in Detroit. I especially like his 58% fg% and the fact that his assist-to-turnover ratio improved to where it was 1:1. Do NOT like his FT%.

WALTHAM -- The Celtics have signed veteran big man Chris Wilcox to a one-year deal. The nine-year veteran, taken with the eighth pick of the 2002 draft by the Clippers, played 57 games (29 starts) for the Pistons last year, averaging 7.4 points, 4.8 rebounds, 0.3 blocks and 0.5 steals in 17.5 minutes per game. He shot 58.1 percent from the floor in 2010-11, and has made 53.2 percent of his attempted shots in his career.

"They had a lot of great guys here," Wilcox said. "My agent called me and said are you interested? This is my first chance of playing for a team of this caliber so I was willing to take this opportunity and come to Boston."

The 6-foot-10 29-year-old can play both forward and center. "At this point in my career I just want to win," he said.

If David West comes, we've got a lot of front-court players and Wilcox will be getting the bulk of whatever minutes he plays at center. I've wanted the C's to acquire him for years if the price was cheap because he's a solid rebounder in a fairly big body. I also like the fact that he is only 29 years old and, being a bench player practically his whole life, he has only played a little over 11,000 career minutes - basically four full seasons. So not a lot of wear and tear on his body. I guess it's center by committee for us this year. Can't rely on JON to give us more than 20-24 minutes a game...
