If the back can hold up Sullinger can get some playing time this year. You cannot go bad with a guy projected in the top ten only to drop because of an injury.

As far as Fab goes, cannot teach height and he is long with a good body! We'll see.

me too, shocked he was still there, he can run, is an athlete, has trouble creating his own shot, but Rondo will make him better, already seeing some dunks on transition.

As a fan I have to say that I cannot know what the Celtics scouts and staff know.

Sullinger; I can see taking a shot. He could help give us some depth we need in the front court. We might have gotten something here.

Fab Melo and Kris Joseph. If I hadn't seen them play I'd say I'm missing something. I will say I just don't get it. Melo is a project at best and Joseph is a nice kid who I think is getting his degree and ought to use it.

I guess I'll look forward to saying I was wrong and eating my words.

Fab is a good defender with good foot work for a big man. He is a shot blocker and he is 7'. He has upside and with his athletic and NBA body he could be a seal. Celtics game is defense and he can be a great defensive center. He is known for his shot blocking and protecting the weak side. If we can get him to score, even better. He can set great picks especially at the key which Perk did for Rondo. Hey at 22 he is a great body to try to mold. I think he is better then most Celtic picks at center.

I watched him, LOTS of work to do on the court and between the ears. Played at SU don't forget and sat back in the middle of that 2-3 zone, can't do that now he will actually have to guard people that can play, not as high on his defense as you are. Seemed to get in foul trouble to often too. Picks??? At SU???

Do like his size and he is healthy, but to me he is a long way from being a serviceable big that will help us this next season.

Hope I am wrong on that last part.

I've seen Fab discussed as sort of a Perk-plus. Perk didn't become the Beast overnight. He may not be "a serviceable big that will help us this next season." He may take a couple of years before we see the Beast of Brazil [tm] emerge!!

The grades are in:

No. 21: Celtics select: Jared Sullinger PF Ohio State

Analysis: Take away the medical concerns, and Sullinger is a lottery player. Most had him as a top four pick if he had come out after his freshman year. He's a little undersized, but at 21, the Celtics fill a need and if Sullinger is healthy, get a really terrific college player. High value, high talent and a great fit.

Grade: A

No. 22: Celtics select: Fab Melo C Syracuse

Analysis:The Celtics had their eye on size in this draft, and they've landed a pretty good amount with their back-to-back picks. I'm sure they would've preferred the versatility of Royce White, but Boston needed desperately to restock on big men. Melo needs a bunch of work to contribute offensively, but he's a big body that can screen, defend and rebound. Maybe their new Kendrick Perkins?

Grade: B
