The Celtics will need to close out on the perimeter all game long and also get back to slow down the break. The Celtics will need to move the ball on offense because the Knicks hardly play a lick of defense. The Celtics need not be sucked into playing the Knicks run and gun game.

In sum a strong perimeter defense with an effort to slow down the break combined with sharing the basketball on offense should result in a win

I did not play yesterday so I guess you could say I stunk the place up but I did watch the game on TV and it was very enjoyable.

The Knicks style under their coach is both beautiful to watch and at the same time an ugly display of basketball. I love the uptemp game but I love an uptempo game that is triggered by good defensive play at one end and a quick transition to the other. If Boston shot their usual 48% from the field the Knicks would have been blown out.

In another post I mentioned that in December we have 10 of 14 on the road and half of the opponents like to push the ball. Since it is unlikely that Boston can run with those teams the best option for success will be to play good defense, get back to slow down the break and share the ball on offense with more attention to scoring in the post
