Thomas Robinson Traded from Rockets to Blazers
He was the #5 pick last year. Just goes to show what a crap shoot the draft is. They also took Royce White but can't convince him to get on an airplane.
Obviously, this is Houston freeing up cap space to make a run at Howard.
This also suggests that Portland is expecting to trade Aldridge. Sure, he might stay now that he has Robinson behind him, but he sounds like he's not happy being the big fish in a small pond, he wants a bigger pond.
The Houston Rockets have agreed to trade second-year power forward Thomas Robinson to the Portland Trail Blazers, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports.
Portland will part ways with two future second-round picks and the draft rights to Kostas Papanikolau and Marko Todorovic. The deal will become official on July 10 after the league-wide moratorium is lifted.
Robinson is only 22 years old, but the Rockets had to move him to free up cap room to make a maximum offer to unrestricted free agent Dwight Howard.
Houston will meet with Howard tonight in Los Angeles as they try to persuade him to sign a four-year max deal.
Last year, Robinson was the fifth overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft and he had four years remaining on his contract. He was set to make $3,526,440 in the 2013-14 season.

Re: Thomas Robinson Traded from Rockets to Blazers
There's no telling whether Robinson will make it in the league based on what happened during his first year. He never got a decent shot in Sacramento (the team that originally drafted him), and he didn't get a chance to break the rotation in Houston once he went there because they were basically set and making a run for the playoffs.
Maybe he winds up being a bust, but so far, he hasn't even had a shot.
