Funny, I can't break the habit of quickly scanning for Lakers' dates before anything else. I hope that, by January and February, both the Celtics and the Lakers will be finding many glimmers in their seasons. Not having the Lakers clouding up the Celtics' immediate future just doesn't seem natural. What would they be without each other? Same as the Red Sox and Yankees.

A little under 9 weeks until pre-season. Figure a week or two earlier for the start of veteran training camp. I presume, but don't know, if Stevens will hold a rookie camp.

http://espn.go.com/blog/boston/celtics/post/_/id/4706346/celtics-announce-preseason-schedule

The Boston Celtics announced their 2013-14 preseason schedule on Wednesday. A look at the eight-game slate that includes two trips north of the border (where Boston opens its season later in the month). The exhibition finale is against the Brooklyn Nets and -- if Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett traveled to Boston for that game -- it would be their first trip back to TD Garden:

Date Opponent Venue (Location) Time
Oct. 7 Toronto Raptors     TD Garden     (Boston) 7:30 p.m.
Oct. 9 New York Knicks      Dunkin Donuts Center (Providence, R.I.) 7:30 p.m.
Oct. 11 Philadelphia 76ers     Bob Carpenter Center (Newark, Del.) 7 p.m.
Oct. 12 New York Knicks      Verizon Wireless Arena (Manchester, N.H.) 7:30 p.m.
Oct. 15 Brooklyn Nets         Barclays Center (Brooklyn, N.Y.) 7:30 p.m.
Oct. 16 Toronto Raptors     Air Canada Centre (Toronto) 7 p.m.
Oct. 20 Minnesota Timberwolves Bell Centre (Montreal) 6 p.m.
Oct. 23 Brooklyn Nets      TD Garden (Boston) 7 p.m.

Well the Pundits have influenced the scheduler makers or perhaps they are one in the same.

I have NBA league pass so I could care less about national televised games.

The schedule makers will regret that day that they treated The Celtics and thier fans with such disrespect.

The Celtics are in the great position at the right time and place.

This team will have a perfect blend of young talent and veterans to be very competitive.  I saw a report that estimates 26 wins this year which means 56 losses.  This is not 2007.

What an insult.

I am quite certain that our team will play with a huge chip on their collective shoulders.

When Rondo returns, they are going to be dangerous. Last year, Sully played on one leg and Bradley was coming back from serious surgery. Also, as Doc complained, they weren't listening to him when he stressed rebounding. He never mentioned Pierce, but anyone could see that Paul rarely blocked out, except at the ends of close games. Rondo was catching that Pierce routine of dogging it, I mean, pacing himself, until he needed to step up, which I believe he learned from Antoine Walker. That attitude should be gone this year.

The new coach - I hope we're not going to call him BS - will tell them exactly how to beat every team in the league based on numbers. He'll be in charge long before Coach Rondo comes back and, hopefully, Rondo will listen to him.

Other teams aren't going to take them seriously. No stars. So they'll spot them 10-12 ppg. And lastly, Indiana basketball is returning to Boston. Larry won't be walking thru that door, but his style of play will be. Yaayy! Can't wait.
