Boston Celtics, Atlantic Division Champs?
The Celtics are currently only 2 games out of first in the Atlantic Division. Toronto is 6-7 and Philly is 6-9. The teams that were supposed to be the division leaders, NYK and Brooklyn Nets, are 3-9 and 3-10 respectively (Wow!). Brooklyn is in Toronto on Tuesday and Philly is in Orlando on Wednesday. A win tonight by us, Brooklyn pulling off a minor upset (who da thunk Brooklyn beating Toronto would be considered an upset?) and Orlando holding home court, would bring us tantalizingly close.
Division winners are guaranteed a playoff berth with home court advantage in the 1st round.
To the best of my knowledge, whether you make the playoffs or not does not effect your draft seeding, which is based upon the team's regular season record and whatever the pingpong balls say.
Wouldn't it be amazing if our division was SO bad that we could make the playoffs, which would be excellent experience for our young core, but still get a decent number of pingpong balls?

The 14 non-playoff teams are in the lottery.
So, if Boston won the division or made the playoffs at all, they would not have any ping pong balls.
