By Chris Forsberg | December 22, 2014 2:51:09 PM PST
Boston Celtics second-year big man Kelly Olynyk was nominated for Eastern Conference Player of the Week but lost out to Atlanta's Al Horford.
Olynyk's stat line in Boston's four-game span last week that saw the team go 3-1: Team-best 19.8 points on 60.8 percent shooting overall (43.8 percent beyond the 3-point arc) with 6.5 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.5 blocks, and 1 steal per contest. Olynyk scored a career-high 30 points during Monday's win in Philadelphia and was a team-best plus-52 in plus/minus this week.
Olynyk is the first Celtics player nominated for Player of the Week this season.

MY NOTE: Means nothing in the bigger, more important team picture of course but for a guy whose game currently needs jolts of confidence and aggression to maintain a high level of production, this can't hurt. I've been thinking that Phil Pressey might be the greatest beneficiary of Rondo's departure but now it is looking like it is Kelly. He doesn't have to defer to Rondo on offense anymore.
