Don't know how long this guy is going to be with the team. Could get waived tomorrow, for all I know, but here's who he is. Scouting report on right side...

Thanks Bob. I looked for information on him and couldn't find a thing. I guess some people are expecting him to be waived immediately. But, although I'm aware that videos don't show generally sloppy play, turnovers, or just plain lack of basketball IQ, one can't help notice that he's a lively PF with inside and outside scoring skills. Then, when I read that he's primarily a defensive player, it occurred to me that he already might have greater long-term potential than either Giddens or Walker.

He certainly seems worth a look. The only thing that worried me was the academic ineligibility history. It sounded too "Gerald Green" for comfort. But then I reread some stuff about his emphasis on defense and decided it will be interesting to see what happens with him.

Thanks again,

Sam

gyso,

The NBA info page doesn't say much, due to his minimal playing time as a rookie. I liked the second story though. Nice human interest story. Not quite as epic as a "Leon", but nice.

Sounds like, after academic ineligibility and all, he finally "got it". Good for him (and us).

sam,

Never one to excuse academic letdowns, I still enjoyed gyso's second link. It sounds like Landry suddenly grew up and became more like Leon. Can't help but fall in love with that.

At 6'7", 230# I'd put him more as a SF than a PF. If so, we already have a defensive-oriented not-great-outside-shooting SF at backup (Quis). I foresee just as much pine time for Landry as Walker and JR got, especially since we're moving towards the playoffs and Doc will probably start shortening his bench.

Still, if he's worth keeping around, he might show us enough to find a place for him next year.

Bob,

I expect you're right on all counts about Landry. I listed him as a PF only because that's the position the stat sheets said he played. He certainly looks quick enough to play SF, and he doesn't really have the build for a PF.
