Stevens on Rozier: ‘His speed is the highest level’
July 3, 2015, 10:45 pm
The Boston Celtics are preparing for the summer league which starts Monday in Utah, giving fans the first in-game look at the No. 16 draft pick Terry Rozier.
As the team has practices, Rozier had plenty of compliments for his new coach Brad Stevens. Likewise, Stevens was impressed with what he's seen so far.
"His speed is the highest level," Stevens said. "Once we started going up and down the full court, he did a lot of things that took you back."

MY NOTE: If this is true, no wonder Phil Pressey is getting a little nervous. On the other hand, based upon what I've read at least, I don't see Terry Rozier racking up 10+ dimes. Pressey has done that at least once. Remember what you do well, Phil.

Re: Stevens on Rozier: ‘His speed is the highest level’
In addition to saying Phil Pressey won’t dress for all the summer games, Stevens said others could get breaks to take more concentrated looks at some of the hopefuls.
“We’re thinking about sitting other guys,” he said. “There’s no question. It kind of depends on the day. We want everybody to get the most beneficial experience possible. Obviously most of these guys will probably dress and play almost every game, but we may decide to sit (Marcus) Smart once. We may decide to play Terry and Phil together or play Phil for an extended 30-minute period and sit him the next day — you know, those types of things. We’ve got a little bit of flexibility.”

Re: Stevens on Rozier: ‘His speed is the highest level’
Rambone,
For his size Mickey did QUITE well. I can see, aside from his shot blocking talents, why Brad and Danny like him. He has the potential to be a very effective full court player.
I would love to know D'Angelo Russell's numbers. Of course, north-south speed is not the only important thing about being a point guard, it would just be interesting to know...

Re: Stevens on Rozier: ‘His speed is the highest level’
Everything I read about this kid (which is no guarantee of reality) suggests to me that I would not be shocked to see Isaiah Thomas and/or Avery Bradley included in a trade (hopefully for a defensive center). No, I wouldn't expect Rozier step right in and perform the way they do; but eventually he might approximate their skills while offering some "extras" (more offensive variety and finishing ability than Avery and better length than Isaiah) and not sacrificing anything in terms of speed.

When people decry Rozier's lack of assists at Louisville they forget that he had almost no one to whom to pass. I really like his speed and aggressivess. In fact, i like the speed of this whole Celtics team, Brandon and Sully excluded.
Even as presently constituted (assuming we can get a lift out of Colt - I know, a big assumption), this could be a very good team. Don't underestimate what speed, savvy coaching, more aggressive cutting to the basket, increased shot blocking and rim protection and improved outside shooting can do for this team in today's NBA.

W,
I don't believe Brandon Bass is coming back (if that is the Brandon you speak of). No room at the inn. I will always remember and appreciate his contributions and professionalism.
If Sully comes back at the same weight that he was at the end of last season (or more!?!) I believe he will be gone as well.

Gyso,
I reluctantly have to agree with you about Bass. Not so reluctantly on Sully.

Sam,
We already did fat with attitude. Glen Davis. As a former favorite of mine, his act eventually wore out his welcome, IMO. I truly hope Sully's choices take a different path.

Don't get me wrong. I like and appreciate Bass. But he is slow, and he will be gone. Perhaps Sully too. The team has become so fast it may change its name from the Celtics to the Greyhounds.
