Matt Janning Signs Camp Deal With Nuggets
SEP 8, 2015 11:00 AM

Matt Janning has agreed to a non-guaranteed camp deal with the Denver Nuggets.

Janning played collegiately at Northwestern and went undrafted in 2010.

Janning played for Anadolu Efes in Turkey last season.

MY NOTE:  For those who don't remember Janning, he played for the Celtics' Orlando Summer League team a couple of years ago and looked really good.  6'6", 220# point guard.  Looked real good running the team.  Sam and I both liked him a lot.  He left the next to last day of Orlando league to join Phoenix' summer league team, to get more exposure (the idiots who scheduled the summer leagues couldn't NOT overlap them?).  Danny tried to convince him to stick around, good things were coming, but Janning wanted more exposure.  He was invited to the Suns' pre-season camp but didn't make the cut and, as we all know, if you don't say yes to Danny when he asks you he starts giving you the 'hairy eyeball' like he did with Rondo.  Janning's weakness seems to be his outside shooting, but he has point guard court vision and talents and excellent size.

In other news, the Sixers signed Christian Wood to a 4 year contract and a partial guarantee.  So, he got a Jordan Mickey type of deal except that Mickey's is fully guaranteed.  The Sixers locked Wood up longterm for cheap, if they like him, but can cut him if they don't.  If he's smart he'll play just good enough to make the team and that's it.  If he plays too well Hinkie will drop him like a bad habit.  Of course, we still have to see any of Hinkie's plan actually work.  He tanked for Embiid, and how did that work out for him?  He tanked for Dario Saric, who says he will come next year, but who knows?  He got Okafur, and that might be a good pick, but 3 years later and Sam Hinkie's team hasn't made any progress towards respectability despite practically owning the draft during that time.
