Re: KNICKS fire Fisher....
No surprise from here. The Knicks have gone from looking like a late seed playoff bound team three weeks ago to falling almost out of the Eastern Conference since.
When professional teams fall apart, heads roll. Sometimes the star player takes the hit, but this time (and, most times) the head coach takes the hit.
In my opinion, Phil Jackson is very likely to come out of the GM's seat and needs to finish this season on the bench. As long as he insists that his head coach has to run his old triangle offense, he needs to be the guy to finish the season because no one else will be able to jump in and keep it going in the direction that Jackson demands.

He wasn't their first choice anyway, but have to wonder if Phil did this on his own or ownership told him too?

IMHO
No way Jackson soils his hands with this bunch. Not a premade ready to win team so that's not his style. Rambus will finish the year and then a new coach will be sought.
We shall see.

Re: KNICKS fire Fisher....
It looks like this was Phil's decision and to nobody's surprise, Phil can't physically coach anymore.
Scott Cacciola: Phil: “This was my decision.” Said Dolan had nothing to do with it.

Ken Berger: Phil on whether he considered returning to bench: “Not for a second. … The instinct was there, but it’s beyond my physical capabilities.”
